Mmmm.. Maybe they should have it near the Boothen End as a "walk with the stars" Stan statue first.... follwed by Banks's... followed by Big John etc.....
In the reception area they should have busts to commemorate our "superstars" of our past so when dignatories and players walk in they actually see our heritage and the heros who actually played for us.
Although i doubt Gordon Marshall will be sighted soon!!!!!

Personally I think this is great news. We soon forget the Icelanders moaning about the cost of Sir Stan. I know what people say about Big John, but these pair have both been Club President. I think a good spot would be somewhere near the club shop so it's visible from the stadium and also walking up from the incinerator. Big John could be the next stage.
Why don't we have an Oatckae legends walk - ID the legend in the toilets at Power League - Rex in the toilets of Delilah's? Fornside with his gun sniping from the top of the John smiths...

Sounds great! Wonder where it will be situated? After Simmo's recent performances somewhere between the sticks behind our back four would do! We could have it on wheels. During the match we could have Pottermus and his missus pulling it side-to-side with rope. At half time they could shift it down the other end to shouts of 'heave-heave' like on Bagpuss!!! ;D

Dear Friends, just before rushing off to hear the radio commentary, I would like to correct an error in the Reuters report about the Gordon Banks Monument. It is the Gordon Banks Monument Committee who will be making the announcement tomorrow morning, and not Stoke City FC. The Chairman, Mr. Coates, however, has agreed that the Monument should be erected at the Britannia Stadium. Please look out for press coverage tomorrow. I will also paste in a separate message the contents of our press release which gives more details. If anyone is free tomorrow morning to attend the launch at the Britannia Building Society, Ironmarket, Newcastle-under-Lyne, Staffordshire, you will be very welcome. Gordon Banks will be in attendance (and also my giant boyhood scrapbook to Banksy). Come on Stoke! Don Mullan, Chairman, The Gordon Banks Monument Committee.

Press Release:
Don Mullan, bestselling Irish author of “Gordon Banks: A Hero Who Could Fly”) Robert Flello MP, Gordon Banks MP, Terry Conroy (Stoke and Irish Rep Legend), Mike Finnigan and David Brownsword are the committee launching the first monument in the Western World to a Goalkeeper.
The committee are looking to raise 350,000 pounds for local artist Andrew Edwards to create 3 of the greatest moments in Banks’ career, including one of “that save” against Pele and another of Banks holding the 1966 World Cup. Gordon Banks is regarded as one of the Worlds greatest ever goalkeepers, and to be immortalized in this way is only fitting for such a great role model and fine sportsman.
The Bank of England have cleared a commemorative “Banks of England” ten pound note/receipt which will be available at; The Britannia Building Society, 57/58 Ironmarket, Newcastle under Lyne, Staffordshire.ST5 1PE at the launch. For each ten pound donation to the fund you will receive one of the commemorative “Banks of England” note/receipt, with a copy of “Gordon Banks: A Hero who could fly”, the heartwarming account of a dyslexic lad brought up in the first decade of the Northern Ireland conflict who drew inspiration from this sporting hero, to go on to become a bestselling author.
The launch of the fund and members of the committee including Gordon Banks will be available from 10.30am Thursday 17th January 2008 at The Britannia Building Society, Newcastle under Lyne to mark this special occasion to honour one of Stoke and England’s sporting heroes. The note/receipt and books will be available at several Britannia Building Society branches throughout Staffordshire and hopefully the country.

Fitting tribute to Englands greatest goalkeeper.Perhaps the third great moment should be the penalty save from Hurst in the dying moments at Upton Park which led to us winning the League Cup

Hey, just to make this thread slightly more in keeping with the "top story of the day" (SSN) - who unveiled the last statue down the Brit? ???
Sorry! Couldn't resist! But you never know, if Sky Sports find out they may even run a story on it! ;D On a serious note, this is great news and more positive publicity for the club!

The Sir Stan one is a brilliant place as it can be seen when entering the city on the approach to the Brit, I like it there
Last year somebody posting a picture of a replica, of what the statue will look like, can anybody remember this apart from me

The third part of the statue has to be the penalty save in the League cup semi-final. I can still see the looks of disbelief from the rest of the team when the great man saved it. THA MAN IS A GOD.

Have been campaigning for a Greenacre statue with a ball 20 feet in front of him but Play-Doh have turned the chance down to make it
