There must be a youth team striker who'd have a case for being in the shake-up in the circumstances. Is Alexander the brightest of the current crop, and it doesn't sound like lack of strength would be a problem as it is with so many youth players? Okay, he's obviously no Pele/Rooney/Best, and he may never make it, but desperate times etc..... And, let's face it, ' desperate' is a kind way of describing having Winkle as your only match-ready striker. Any striker on the books with a pulse and two legs must have a case for being thought about tomorrow www.thisisstaffordshire.co.uk/football/Stoke-City-Alexander-continues-hot-streakarticle-340376-details/article.htmlWARWICK Alexander bagged his third in three games as Stoke's youth team ran out 1-0 winners against Leeds last weekend.
That makes it two wins in two by way of a terrific response to that potentially debilitating 7-1 hammering by Bristol City in their opening fixture... two days after arriving back from a week in America.
Alexander's second-half strike settled a largely scrappy game and served further notice of his ability in front of goal.
A big lad hailing from Rugby in Warwickshire and (allegedly) requiring a hair cut, he has quickly impressed youth boss Adrian Pennock in the opening few weeks of the season.
"All three of his goals have been headers, which just goes to show how good he is in the air," said Pennock. Click here!
"But he also gets into good positions in the first place when the ball comes into the box.
"He's a big lad, one of those who can be a real pain for defenders. There's still a lot of improvements to make and he knows that, not least taking a pair of shears to his hair."
Alexander struck in the 68th minute last weekend by climbing above two defenders to head home an enticing cross from Tom Urwin.
www.chanticosarmy.com/Galleries/2008.8.16.PottersvRayadas.htmWarwick Alexander (Stoke City) was a big boy. He gave the Rayados defense fits throughout the match with his size, which eventually resulted in a Rayados player being ejected for punching.

It wouldn't matter if we did have Rooney, Pele or Best in the youth team, they wouldn't get a look in under Pulis, even in these circumstances.
Like you say, Alexander may not be good enough, but he can't be any worse than Pericard, who is quite simply a bad joke.
The annoying thing is that he'll definitely start with Pericard, and then not have any attackers as substitutes either.
I sense us being on the end of a cup upset, although whether it would be a surprise to any of us is another matter.

Pembo - So TP pays £5.5m for a striker and still does not play him even though we have no fit strikers(I'm not counting Pericard who would be out of his depth at Blue Square level).Have you even considered that Kitson may have had a reaction to his post Man Utd work out.
What would be useful however would be more updates from the club on players fitness.
