Considering how poor he was last season, Griff has improved tremendously this season and for the most part, looked a Premier League player. He has had a few poor games, but plenty of good ones as well, and most of our defence, Ab Faye apart, have dropped some clangers this season.
Griff's heinous crime is that a section of supporters can't bring themselves to forgive him for his heinous crime of choosing to play for a higher club in a higher league instead of Stoke City, which means every mistake he makes leads to cries to burn him at the stake whereas everyone a Dicko or Shawcross makes is swept under the carpet.

RVD, I would rate our defenders performances as follows - Abdy - excellent Higgo - good Shawx - good Griff - average The arguement about Griff choosing Derby and therefore fans opinion is clouded somewhat doesn't stand up, in my opinion. Higgy?

For some reason Higgy seems to have avoided the wrath that some seem to have for Griffin, in spite of the fact that, IMO, what Higgy did was worse.
Yet you only have to look at what some have written about Griff on here in the last few days to realize that a fair few have it in for him, and that it has little to do with how he's been playing.

RVD: Its obvious isn't it, some people consider Griff to be "one of our own" despite the fact he's a wigan lad, because he came through the ranks, and is married to a stokie, where as Higgi isn't looked at in the same light, so higgi's crime whilst the same is seen as easier to understand for them. End of the day Griff did was right by his bank balance, no different to Higgi.

What Higgy did was far worse. The "injury" was particularly disappointing. But he's a Stokie now, all is forgotten, same applies with Griff (although he was free to do what he wanted .. he wasn't with Stoke). But I don't think we should be deceived by Griffin's performances being a vast improvement on last seasons - he was terrible last year, make no mistake.

Also Dave, Griff wasn't actually our player when he made his decision, whereas Higgy was Stoke captain and cried to the press like a little girl when we rejected the initial bid for him.

christ don't start a witch hunt for higgy isn't it enough with Griff and Cresswell? I'm not starting a witch hunt for Higgy. As soon as he re-signed all was forgotten and he gets my full support as all the players do. I'm just pointing out that for some reason he doesn't get the same grief Griffin does when what he did, in my opinion at least, was worse.

christ don't start a witch hunt for higgy isn't it enough with Griff and Cresswell? It's hardly a witch-hunt. I'm not slating Griffin, merely pointing out he's having a mixed season. Cres on the other hand, I'd suggest it's more a gripe with the manager forking out £4 million on wide men he refuses to play ahead of a technically limited striker than criticism against the lad himself.

I was trying to be ironic I know mate your just pointing out the inconsistency and irrational unfair treatment of some of our players. It amazes me and I find it difficult to understand the idiots who watch week in week out other players making mistakes yet wait for one small error from Griff or Cresser to shout "thats Griff that is he's shit, thats his fault" and then dozens jump up and join in, it drives me mad.

because he has, would you like me to go and get the oatcake player ratings list from the Man U copy ? Do what you like, David. Bolton Pompey Man City N'castle (defending for the second goal was poor) West Ham (not bad until the worse piece of defending this season) Can't argue with that, Man City he was awfull and West Ham as well. He has done better than I expected with about 3 or 4 very good performances. The rest have been either ok or as in the two matches shown dreadfull.
