www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/dec/30/steven-gerrard-liverpool1Being arrested for assault is one thing, but the real embarassment has to be in the disclosure of Gerrard's musical (lack of) taste :- Gerrard is a big fan of Phil Collins and counts the singer's greatest hits as his favourite album. He is also partial to Coldplay.

gents, he wasn't on the phone when he left and the road is unadopted so everyone who drives down it drives on the 'good' side.

He should recieve a custodial sentence for listening to Phil Collins never mind the assault... And there was I imagining him to be listening to Boards of Canada or Pere Ubu...

Using some of his farourite singers songs (Phil Collins) i hope when we play Liverpool we will win 'against all odds' after Gerrards 'missed again'. And when he's inside he will wish they could 'take me home' to his missus Alex so he could feel it 'coming in her hair tonight'!

send the scouse twat down, if he wasnt a footballer he could well have been held on remand for that. abh and affray is quite bad shit, lets see if the judge does the right thing. these twats deserve bringing down to earth and now they have the chance. just because the dj wouldnt play his music for him, who the fuck do these people think they are.

Werrington you are right but i never understand the need to sell papers argument. People buy papers through habit as opposed to what stories are in that paper on that particular day.

Ever thought he might not be guilty Deano!! Dont always believe what you read in the press...He is news and they need to sell papers!! if he was not guilty why have they charged him with it so quick? they could of released him on bail then called him back for further questioning after theyve seen the videos.

if its on cctv cameras then a jury cant do any other than prove him guilty, but i aint seen anyone say he aint done it have you?

Post by cousindupree on Jan 1, 2009 20:11:53 GMT
It was suggested that the row was with the DJ as Gerrard wanted the music changed...if he had asked me to play Phil Collins I would have smacked him one! As for Coldplay...go into any hotel and you can hear them...geez Stevie how sad

We,ll see...like i say he news and the press need to distort the facts to sell papers?...He may well be guilty but kangaroo courts arent the answer
|
|
|
Post by stockportpotter on Jan 1, 2009 20:15:01 GMT
but how does distorting the facts sell the papers. do you really buy a paper because of what is on the front or do you buy a paper because it's the 'one you read'?
Plus, if they distort the facts are the not guilty of libel?

its going come out soon, so all will be revealed. but why oh why does someone with gerrards stature and profile have to put himself in a position where he is locked up and possibly looking at a prison sentence. i dont begrudge him of a night out but for god sake show a touch of class, as a international player he is representing the country aswell, looks great now abroad when they see pics of gerrard pissed up fighting. it brings our country down. would you ever see beckham doing that?

This is the transcript of what Gerrard said as he was hitting the bloke.
'Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where, uh, Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. Sabrina, remove your dress. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Sabrina, why don't you, uh, dance a little. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as, uh, anything I've heard in rock. Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your ass. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and, uh, Against All Odds. Sabrina, don't just stare at it, eat it. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favourite.'
