Another silly thing to say. Enlighten me as to why Man Utd and not Bury or Oldham? They have been a 'brand' for decades. I'm not disputing that Starkiller, the Munich air disaster happened in 1958 thats 12 years before i was born so if i was a Man Utd fan and started going in 1979 as i did Stoke,United were rubbish then and even got relegated around that time so how would that make anyone who followed them from then be a glory hunter?

even tho they were relegated, they were still regarded as one of the biggest teams in the country As were Blackpool,Bolton,Prestonand more recently Leeds Utd but look at them now. Now although they did get promotion back to the first division they still won nothing till the 90's.

I cant believe how many Stokies are defending the shit fans.
Yes i admit there are people who have a genuine reason to support them, i know 2 that i used to work with at a hotel on the edge of manchester, it is not these we have a problem with.
It is the likes of the cunts who live on my street ( 3 of them), middle age men who have no reason to support them other than following success.
When the shit won the title last year you could hear them chatting ' oh champions again..blah bla blah...'. No real emotion or excitement in their voice. Just a case of, oh i can wear that shitty red rag again cos im better than other supporters cos my team win.
Fuck me, i was celebrating for weeks after we went up and these tossers just couldnt understand why i was getting so excited. Just sums it up, they have no clue wht it is to be a REAL fan!

the problem with a successful team like man u is that they will always attract 'fans' from all over the globe due to the clubs success on the pitch. but you also have to remember that man u as a club are not daft and advertise themselves all over the globe to make a massive amount of money.best ignoring these types of clubs/fans IMO. same up here with rangers + celtic. same sort of 'fans' all over scotland follow them. i myself am not a local stoke fan but have my reasons for doing so and have done for nearly 20 years. i make an effort to get down when i can + there ain't much glory in it!

Just makes it so much easier when your old man's family are Stokies for generations, he playd a few reserve games for Stoke, i was born in Stoke and i still only live up the road now .... saves me an awful lot of grief i reckon. Got 2 Man U fans at work and you ask them why they support them and then just get ready to laugh .... everyone's a winner

What a crock of shit! Please don't think you can talk for me. If Stoke aren't going to win a trophy then I seriously don't give a flying fuck who wins it. Now if we're throwing around opinions as facts then my best guess is you're only sticking up for gloryhunters because you're mates with them. They are the lowest of the low in the world of football supporters. I expected a better response from you! And I expected better than for you to stupidly suggest that the only reason for my dislike of gloryhunters has anything to do with jealousy. What an absurd comment to make Uncle Pol. So I guess we're both disappointed.

Smudge knows just what I think of the vileness of many Man U followers, indeed I wrote an article for The Oatie aeons ago which got me stick aplenty in the Sentinel from irate 'local' United fans.
I detest them, but sorry, their 2800 yesterday would have been made up of a large % of Mancunian supporters. Some might not like that, but their away support is usually Manc-based and nowt like their home crowd with thousands coming from all over the world to watch them. THey deserve all the stick they get.
As much as I hate the plums, I think I'm balanced enough to realise that what we saw yesterday were the genuine article - still plums, mind, and it's ingrained in me to hate them until my last breath, but some folk seem to preoccupied with stereotype than fact!
