I've just spoke to my brother who works for wedgewoods museum and he tells me about a letter from one of the wedgewood family he found in the archives with relates to football fans fighting at stoke station in or around 1908 but no mention as to which fans they are . in short does anybody have an idea of where to start to try and find out anymore information .
grateful for any help or info .

This won't be much help but at least its a start! You can see which teams were in which league in 1907-08 and 1908-09 I'm sure people with the Stoke encyclopedia will be able to narrow the hunt down more! www.rsssf.com/engpaul/FLA/league.html

1907/08 Stoke were in division 2, in the summer of 1908 Stoke FC went bust, and a new club Stoke FC (1908) ltd were formed and played in the Birmingham and District League
The encyclopedia doesn't mention any trouble, but as it happened at the station its unlikely to

Hanley Library/museum archives, perhaps? If you can get a date from the Wedgwood document, you could perhaps find some news document from that date in the Library archives.

Just looked at the 1948/49 season final table, my first season as a Stokie( my first game was against Man City. I'm not quite sure of the score as I was more interested watching silly blokes jumping up and down shouting. Thank God we're more refined now) but I think we won 2-0. See we ended up safe, 11th, with 41 points from 42 games that season. Just need a couple of extra wins to make sure, as we'll need more than 41 from less games. Come on, Stoke!!!!!.

Have a word with the Sentinel, I bet they'll have it in the archives, don't they keep all old editions on microfilm?
(This isn't a forensic enquiry on behalf of GMP is it? ;D)
