a man shit and england legend and thoroughly deserving of lifetime achievment award.
the wife bought me his biography "the man utd years" last christmas (i dont know why) and it is a very good read especially the chapter on munich
if the england years is half as good it will be another good read
edit
i do feel that the bbc show always seems to give the life time achievment to football in years where football does not dominate the other catorgories

The first book was brilliant. In a world where kids who have done nowt in the game release book after book it was fascinating to read the full story of one of the few players who has done and won it all.

Theres only one footballing legend and true gentleman, and it is not Bobby Charlton. It is Sir Stanley Matthews

Got to say, i was slightly dissapointed that Bobby Robson wasn't given the award, particularly inlight of his poor health. However, a well deserved award for Charlton.

I've met Bobby Charlton 4 times at various stages of my life, and have found him nothing but brilliant every single time.
I helped take a bunch of kids round OT a couple of years ago as part of a youth scheme i did some volunteering with, and as we were in the changing rooms, in he walks, and asks me if i'd like him to say a few words to the lads. He talked to them for 20 minutes, absolutely captivating stuff.
A true footballing superstar and a wonderful man. Also full credit to the scousers for the reception he received. It clearly moved him immensely.

He hasn't spoke to his brother for years, very staged that, Bobby didn't even go to his mothers funeral because Jackie was there.

Bobby didn't even go to his mothers funeral because Jackie was there.
The thing was Jack was quite resentful that Bobby hadn't kept in touch as well as he might have done with their ma. As eddyclamp said they ahve made it up now. They are different kinds of people altogether but they get on OK. As for not going the funeral thats just not true.
