More delusion from Stoke fans. A fit Ashton is a target for Spurs, Villa and the likes. We have less than ZERO chance of signing him. Thats why we probably have a chance of signing him, because like Fuller, he's one of those players that top clubs won't sign due to his injury record, thats exactly why he might end up at a club like Stoke, ... I agree that if he didn't have the injuries we wouldn't stand a snow ball in hells chance, as it is, I certainly don't think it's delusional to think we might stand a chance of signing him, and we have the added bonus of being geographically close to his family, he's also 25 now, so he's not the young starlet that he used to be. Disagree, more like top clubs won't pay big bucks for him but at 5 or 6 million much bigger clubs than us would take the risk. Besides it's a much smaller risk for them than us as they generally have more cash and bigger squads. Ashton could be a very good sub for lots of teams while we'd need him to play every week and he just probably wouldn't last.

He's a good player, but if he's a target for Villa, Spurs etc then why are West Ham looking to offload? Fed up with supporting him through injury?

Pugsley, you are spot on, christ who do we think we are. We all want the best players but it is not going to happen as yet. You need to establish yourselves in the prem before players such as ashton choose us especially when villa, spurs and god knows who else wants him like norwich esablished themselves in the premiership?
