Idly browsing the net...discovered that David Platt scored 27 goals in 62 games for England! What an incredible record for a midfielder at international level. I don't remember him being so prolific.
To put that into perspective, it's a goals-per-game ratio to rival Gary Lineker's, Alan Shearer's and Michael Owen's...

Didn't he score 6 goals in one game against San Marinio?(sp) I think it was Turnips last game in charge when they scored after 10 seconds. Great player was Platty, Graham Shaw had more potential though Edit: He scored 4 in the home leg Ian Wright got 4 in the away leg

Palmer & Thomas kept Le Tissier out of Taylors England side.
& yet I still warm to GT when he's on TV/Radio
perhaps I should be less tolerant & forgiving?

I obviously have a better memory - he was always on hand coming up with a goal - didn't he get that over the shoulder number against the Belgians in the 1990 world cup when things were heading for penalties?!

Graham Taylor's a good bloke. Hopelessly out of his depth managing England but he was right about Le Tissier. As his successors were.
