Not one of mine, a work colleague of mine who is gifted with the pen wrote this one some time ago. how things have changed.
EIGHT – NIL
The game had been a sell-out Home confidence was high We’ll beat those bloody scousers Was the Potters battle cry
The match started with a flurry Thorne slipped in like a ghost The goal was gaping open Bloody hell he’s hit the post
Chance after chance went begging But still the home crowd roared Then Liverpool went up the field And immediately scored
Two and three then quickly followed Close behind came number four If the first half wasn’t bad enough Second half produced four more
Eight goals to nil it finished And just to add more gaul That Fowler scored a hat-trick And scarpered with the ball
So the Stoke cup run is over And the Vale didn’t have much luck So there’ll be no rival banter When they’re all up Hanley Duck!
