I hope Spinksy is just guessing... Described as closest to Sidibe in physique and approach and after silly, unfathomable starts at Burnley and Bristol City, who knows what's going through Pulis' mind? Surely it's 1.) CRESSWELL 2.) BEAST 3.) PLAY WITH 10 MEN 4.) VINCE 4PM UPDATE: CITY DOUBTS OVER DELAP AND PERICARD Be the first reader to comment on this story 16:46 - 10 January 2008 Stoke assistant boss David Kemp is playing it cool on the chances of Rory Delap and Vincent Pericard featuring at Ipswich this weekend.Delap is still struggling to overcome the calf injury which forced him to miss last Sunday's FA Cup clash with Newcastle. But Pericard is fit and seemingly in form after scoring for the reserves against Oldham yesterday to enhance his chances of replacing the unavailable Mama Sidibe. "Rory has improved," reported Kemp today, "but he still hasn't trained yet. "We have to be careful with him and take it step by step. "Whether he makes this weekend or not, we'll have to wait and see. "Vincent scored a goal for the reserves and it's always good for strikers to get a goal for their confidence. "Mama has been a very important part of the team, but whenever we've lost a player this season we've always seemed to have adjusted, and again we'll have to use the talent available to us." Pericard, whose physique and approach makes him the most natural replacement for Sidibe, will face competition from both Richard Cresswell and Jon Parkin for the right to start up front alongside Ricardo Fuller. Pericard last started for Stoke in the 0-0 draw at Burnley on November 24 - the start of City's 11-match unbeaten run. * PETER Sweeney today completed his move from Stoke to Leeds United for what the Yorkshire club is describing as a nominal fee.

If Vinny's playing, it's going to be a long trip back from Ipswich, can't wait.

Natural replacement for what exactly? I can kind of see where he's coming from afterall neither of the feckers could score in Cobridge with their kecks round their ankles and 20 quid in each hand

I'd be the first to say "Oh my fecking God" if he does. Seriously if he does well and looks like he's trying I certainly won't get on his back despite him being total toss so far. I have no morals where Stoke wins are concerned if he scores I might even sing his name!!!

All of which still leaves me wondering why Pulis insists on playing just the same no matter who is available.
No one else we've got can play the mama role, yet someone will be told to.

Pericard most natural replacement for a lampost. Infact I've seen more skillful and mobile lamposts.

If we'd got the cover at the back, if we're sticking with the Mama system I'd very seriously play Shawcross up front with Fuller before either Beast or Pericant. He's already a more complete footballer than either of them, he's better in the air, he's got a good shot on him. And I reckon a Dion Dublin-type central defender/striker would work well in a Pulis team.

So we're now down to this pecking order in the strikers department while Mama's away: 1. CRESSWELL 2. BEAST 3. PLAY WITH 10 MEN 4. PLAY WITH A SKILLFUL AND MOBILE LAMPOST 5. PLAY WITH A LAMPOST 6. VINCE
...and I agree!

Can we ship him off to Leeds as well. Nothing quite like adding to that 15 point penalty is there?

Young Demar got a bit of high praise, on official site, from O'Connor for the Reserve win yesterday. So I wondered whether: Parky for 60 mins (or earlier if dead earlier) Demar for Parky - Swap Demar for Cresser Anything else is bordering on madness ... shirley (or even Tony). Though: Dicko at LB, Pugh at LM and Rory/Sali CM means Cresser & Fuller could start up top (as there's no way on this earth Demar will start ...) ah
