www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,16368,2483_4551254,00.html Stoke are lining up a deal for Senegal international defender Lamine Diattawww.lequipe.fr/Football/breves2008/20081124_215804_le-qatar-pour-diatta.htmlBertrand Marchand and Lamine Diatta, which worked together in Rennes could be well found in the next weeks, more precisely in Qatar. Merchant, who directs the Al Khor club recently contacted the Senegalese international, in search of a club since his departure from Newcastle last May. Diatta, which had not been able to get along with Sochaux at the beginning of the month for financial reasons was also approached by a representative of Stoke City (England).www.shieldsgazette.com/nufc/Diatta--39my-insurance-policy39.3856834.jpNow 33, and predominately another centre-half, can't see anything coming of it, free or not?

If Pulis deems him to be decent enough to do a job for us and he's available then no matter what position any player plays in then they're going to be needed throughout the course of a season to cover for both injuries and suspensions. If 'Lord forbid that he isn't' but if Ryan Shawcross is going to be out for a while then we are going to need this cover as soon as possible. I know we got Sonko and Cort but if one of those got injured then it would really be a worry, and it's a worry that we could both ill afford and do without because all of our concentrated efforts need to remain on us maintaining our Premiership status and not worrying about getting players in at the last minute to cover any losses.

Quashie Lee Hendrie Lamine Diatta (somehow we've got ourselves linked with him) The bloke from Derby (can't remember his name). We need players who can make a difference now, not in the future. Absolutely wonderful ??? Post from the other day on the "players we don't want thread".

What really pisses me off is that this bloke was available all last summer following his release from his contract at NUFC. If he wasn't good enough then why is he now?
Why we are messing about with 10th rate unemployed centre halfs when we need midfielders and strikers is simply baffling.

It does seem a completely worthless trial.
Unless we want a team of centre-halves....or Senegalese internationals, or both.

www.stade-rennais-online.com/+2559-Anciens-rennais-Diatta-proche+.htmlDiatta close to Stoke City In an interview granted this Sunday to the daily newspaper L'Equipe, Lamine Diatta (33 years) indicates that he could join Stoke City (England) very soon. Without a club since last June and his departure from Newcastle, the Senegalese carried out a one week trial at the modest English team, promoted this season to the Premier League, and he “would like the challenge”. The trainer of the club, Tony Pullis, would be “satisfied” with his trial. He even asked him to attend the Stoke City - Liverpool (0-0) meeting which was held this weekend. The Senegalese - who played five seasons at the Stage Of Rennes (1999-2004) - had carried out a test in November in Sochaux. But, it had not been able to sign in the club of Doubs for financial reasons.

Is centre half his only position ? ... can't fathom why we'd be looking at another centre back

It seems we're interested in anybody who waves a Senegalese passport at us ..... I'd love us to sign Mamadou Niang - Senegalese striker from Marseille who was one of the top scorers last season in ligue 1

There must be an impending exodus of our CH reserves to even make this worth considering.
Let's add them up. No I can't be bothered. But apart from Dicko and Griff all our defenders are also centre halves, and we would have to be insane to get one in, or he'd have to be brilliant. Does he play well with Ab Faye or something?

Rudge had better order a big ass bus to ship out our army of centre backs if we're having a clear out "How many centre backs can you fit on mate"

Maybe TP figures that at his age he'd be happier on the bench than others like Sonko or Court who he plans to sell or use as make weights in deals for players we are planning to buy?
