That remains the one and only time I've felt scared at a football match. And I've been going since the '70s, at Leeds with all the Nazis in the '80s, at Birmingham for the riot in the '90s etc.
I can't remember the score at halftime, but I went to the bogs and thought christ, this is going to explode! I was relieved that we went a period without conceding at the start of the second half and things calmed down a little, otherwse I think the game would have had to have been abandoned.
Anyone remember the attendance?

I remember going to the bog in the 2nd half and hearing a big cheer...i went back out and asked my mate if we'd just scored and he said no, Furlongs just got his hat trick That match was on my last day in Stoke, I was moving down to Hampshire the next day and it was supposed to be a win against Birmingham and then out with the lads for a huge pissup. Completely fucked my night I can tell you...all night we were shaking our heads and repeating '7-0, 7-fucking-0' How times have changed!
