When did this position suddenly become the role he was always destined to play? He was very average in his first spell here when played there, and actually spoke out about his preference to play centre half. However this season it looks like he's played there all his life, with a real attackers mindset to boot.
I thought it was great when he agreed to come back (unlike some), however only as a centre half. From what I've seen this season left back is the role for him and long may it continue.
I reckon he's closing in on being our second best summer signing (best being Sorro, and Ab just edging Higgy out for second at the moment).

He's doing great - Even commented on in the nationals ' the underated Stoke full back Danny Higginbottom'

He's done superbly and has slotted in, like you say, as though he has played there all his life.
As much as I like Dicko's commitment, his distribution is very poor. Can you imagine him clipping in a cross as delicious as Higgy's on Saturday?

Dicko's crossing can be quite good, his hoofing and general passing is sometimes not clever, but his crossing can be good. e.g. Fuller's goal at Bolton.

Sorry, but I think Dicko's crossing is not unlike Brammer's shooting - Mostly abysmal, but with the occassional beauty.

Well, OK I forgot Dicko's beauty at Bolton- sorry! You know what I mean though- 95% of the time his passes/crosses are wayward. Last night they were awful. All in all though, Higgy is better than Dicko

Well Davies is due back at the end of the month and if the scan on Ryan comes back and he is out for a while Higgy might be shifted back to centre half i would imagine with Davies taking up the RB position?
Agreed that Higgy has been fantastic at RB so far though!!!

and where did he find that burst of pace from in the first half, when he can out with the ball in the left chanel to the half way line, passed it inside, then appeard to morph into Usian Bolt !!!!!!!!

When we were linked with a move to bring Higgy back to Stoke, I admit I had a lot of doubts. My main concern was that if he had a couple of poor performances, he would get absolutely hammered by fans due to circumstances surrounding his move to Sunderland. I also had doubts as to his ability at top flight level. His performances in his first spell with us were fantastic, and the leadership qualities he brought to the team made him an excellent Championship centre half, but I had always questioned his ability to do it at the top level. I think he has proved me and many others wrong this season, and the fact that he has done it at left back makes it all the more admirable. I don't think there is any doubt that he is a far better player in every sense than Dicko, although it's great to have a lad with his level of commitment waiting in the wings as he is guaranteed to give 110% when called upon.
