Tom Soares and Gerry Francis. I think that they both have made a big impact on our fortunes this season, and in Gerry's case we should show our appreciation for having a guy with his wealth of experience and coaching expertise. An excellent acquisition by The Messiah...Amen. Give credit where it's due... Well done Tom and Gerry.

Soares describes himself as a central midfielder rather than a winger and I think that is correct. Despite his pace his crossing (and corners) are pretty poor especially given that our pitch is one of the narrowest in the league. They often fail to beat the first man. He'd be better in central midfield where he could burst through the middle (as he did against Tottingham). despite less pace Tonge looks a better bet on the wing than Soares as he has a better range of passing.
I agree about Gerry Francis - our results seem to have improved greatly since he arrived. We are now about 4th in the table of points gained over the past 8 games - which about covers his time here.

thanks to the unique way Pulis approaches the transfer market don't all our midfielders play in the middle ideally?

Would be interesting to see how a Soares/Diao pairing would do in the centre of midfield, Could offer a nice mix with Diao doing the breaking up and Soares offering a attacking option.
Lawrence---Soares---Diao---Delap
I doubt we'd ever see it though, Pulis seems to like going with two destroyers in midfield ;D
