Lost 0-1 at home to West Ham who move above us on goal difference.
Keane is really setting the division alight with his £60 million + spending spree is he not? ;D

A long ball team with a long thrower in the team. The fact they are much worse than us at it somehow means the media don't mention it.

Quite Dave. They'll be asking the question how a legend like Roy is supposed to build a decent team with only nigh on £80M!

............And Keane still won't sign the five year contract offered to him by the nervy Niall. Apparently it's because he wants specific promises with regard to Sunderland's ambition, over the next five years, which must match his. Very easy when you're on the receiving end, rather than the paying out end, I would think. How on earth can you make promises for that long ahead, especially in these financially stricken times? Has Keane offered to refund the monies mis-spent on some dud transfers since he came to the club? I think not. Here is a fella with an exalted opinion of himself. He may eventually be a good manager but can't pretend that he is worthy of 'royal' treatment right now, just because he could play a bit. Ah, the nerve of the man.

Always thought in most cases anyway, ex footballers dont mage managers. What is it withh these managers that come from football retirement and somehow get to manage a club? Zola and Keane are perfect modern examples of this.

They will struggle big time, like the other posts it gets me how Keane does not get criticism, he has spent millions on poor players, he brought higgy and sold him for a loss, the bloke is a joke, and just because he is ex-shit he gets no stick. Craig Gordon £8 mill lol Chopra £4.5 lol Anton Ferdinand £7 million hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Keane is too worried about his image and actually did well last year to justify his spend as Derby and Birmingham went down.
He trys to remain cool on the touchline and then tries to be Mister tough guy to the media with the odd wise crack.
He's bought a couple of big time charlies past their sell buy date and his empire is about to implode as this year he will be found out.

Monica didn't you post on a thread a couple of weeks ago that Quinn had to get an American consortium to bail him out for quite a few million? Wouldn't it be funny if they went down.

Sunderland will be in the shake up. Their problem lies in the inflated price tags of the players they sign. Can't live up to it so they get dropped and they never have a consistent team. Going down I hope for our sake and to knock Keane off his perch.

Even if you look at only a few deals, he has made a right mess of things:
Chopra £5 million - back at Bardiff on loan
Higgy - £3 million - back at stoke for 2.5 mill and playing exceptionally well
Gordon - £8 million!!!!
Reid - Fat and wank - £4.5 million!!
Ferdinand - £8 million - who would you rather have? Abdy Faye for 2.5 million or this overrated tosser for 8 million???
He is being found out quite quickly this season

No way I am going to get defensive on this but if peple are going to type things at least get somewhere near the truth. Ellis Short bought shares in the consortium that own the club, look him up on google. They are talking about a 2 year extension, not 5 year contract. I have said before the mix isn't right and we simply don't look like a team. Our biggest problem is defence tbh total lack of any organisation. As for prices yep overpaid, but that happens when you have very little choice given to you by the manager. Chopra don't know why people pick on him tbh, he played mostly on the wing in a team that didn't create chances, don't think he is much different to many strikers at the bottom end of the prem. He has obviously had personal problems but better than most other people give him credit for. My problem is Keane has Healy in front of him. On record before, don't want to extend Keane's contract much prefer to see teh saeson out, if performances stay the same I personally would like to see a change.

The reaction from the Mackems at the end of their match today sounded a bit like criticism to me. ;D

"As for prices yep overpaid, but that happens when you have very little choice given to you by the manager." Sorry, I have no idea what that is supposed to mean. Sorry sometimes forget this is your board not ours, all it means is that looking from the outside it appears Keane has very limted targets in his mind which makes a short list to choose from so the club seem to have little choice but keep upping the ante. Keane is far from not being criticised, for the most part that was the case last season and mostly rightly so given the history, the mess the club was in and his time in management. This season is different and a lot of fans are becoming increasingly bemused by teh tactics, weird subs and player picks. If the current spell continues its only a matter of time before the crowd turns, given the resources he has been given. As I have said all season we don't look like a team, the mix is wrong in midfield and defence and that doesn't look like changing at the current rate. Well done on your win on Saturday btw.

there's no doubt in my mind he did a magnificent job propelling you from possible relegation fodder to promotion in one mad season in the championship. he steadied the ship last year but this year the momentum is lost and he rightly so should be open to criticism. be interesting to see what would happen if you are in the bottom 3 come march.

Mark71, I said that an American bloke (not consortium) had provided £30M - Ellis Short by name - by buying shares, which were kept secret until the Daily Tel. discovered it. Not even their local journalist knew about it. He is now an addition to the Drumaville consortium, fronted by Quinn. Sunderland may come good but it's a hell of a risk, with 'only' 35,000 there, yesterday, to ruin their business plan, for starters. But I'm trying not to worry about Keano's reputation.

Roy is an intelligent man. He must have been aware how different playing is to managing. If he wasn't he certainly does now! ;D
