Fabio seems a smart manager but why the hell pick these two muppets!...Hopefully neither will be close to pulling on an England shirt again

I think your right about Carson, but in this form Bent can score goals at any level

I thought Bent was unlucky that his standing leg gave way as he shot last night. Apart from that I thought he had a decent half and his current form for Spurs makes him well worth his place in the squad I'd have said.
Carson has a confidence problem and I think last night will have made it worse. He'll surprise me if he goes on to play regularly for England.

I didn't see any of the match, why would last night have made Carsons confidence worse? What occured?

for the german goal, terry was trying to guide the ball back to carson so he could pick it up, the ball didnt have the legs, the german striker nipped in, nutmegged carson and then tapped it in.

On current Premier League form, it would have been a travesty if Bent hadn't been picked.

I just think at this level the best shine and the rest screw up.If this had been a qualifier we could have been in trouble just as we did v Croatia under Mc Claren....when a howler by Carson and a missed chance by Bent both at crucial times in the match were major contributors in getting beat. Pretty sure Michael Owen would have buried that chance last night

If it had been a qualifier though they almost certainly wouldn't have featured. Bent has got something like 8 in his last 9 Prem games, and so for an England friendly, surely that's worth a call up and another chance to show what you can do?

Rob stranger things have happened.....clearly these two are on the fringe of the team and may well feature in the future....although surely Carsons england career is at an end

Agree about Carson, he's surely had his chance. Still think as a squad player Bent has something to offer, although for me he'd be behind Rooney, Crouch, Defoe, Agbonlahor and probably, as you say, Owen. Still, Cappello is doing the right thing in friendlies by picking the team on form.

Fuck Michael Owen ... he's wank now and i hope he never gets back in. Yes he'll tap in the odd goal but he offers 'nothing else'. Can't hold the ball up, good in the air for his height but not good, isn't quick enough or strong enough to run the channels and he just doesn't look like he wants it anymore.
Bent scored loads for fucking Charlton for gods sake and is now scoring for fun for Spurs and he's always fit. We've pandered to Owen's injuries for way too long now and all it does is disrupt the team when he misses every other game.
On to the next for me now unless he gets his pace back of about 7 years ago or forget it.
As for this "i bet Owen would have scored" ... did you see his miss last weekend? This preconception he scores every chance he gets is just bollocks.

He could trap a bag of cement. He tried to control one pass and it went at least 10 yards away from him. Embarrassing. As for Owen, if anyone thinks Bent is as good or will be as good as Owen then they are mental. It goes to show what a dearth of English strikers there is. Carson is a decent keeper but not good enough for England.

Bent may not ever be as good as Owen was in his prime, however Owen is not even close to an England call up and in my opinion never will again. I would much prefer to have Bent in my side at present than Owen.

Owen has confidence issues at the moment, similar to Bent under Ramos. Its not impossible for the boy to get some fresh blood in him if King kev or Shearer go to the Toon.
Its Rooney who should be under scrutiny, bag of shit. I would like to see more of Abonglahor in the England team, he has the height (nearly) of Crouch, the speed of Walcott and he's not afraid to crack it in.
Carson is a joke, so fucking glad we didnt sign that clown. Boing Boing

Rooney has been magnificent in the last few qualifying matches. Outstanding against Croatia. He is our best player by far. You're talking shite mate.

Sorry boys but Terry was at fault not Carson. He got no call and should have put it in row z as Abdy or Ryan would have done. I thought he made a decent save although i stll think hes not international material. Not commanding enough.

He is supposed to be our best player, I think people (like me) expect more from him, I personally dont think he is giving it his all. He has been and could be better for us.
It's a good thing though, as it creates more of a desire for the fringe strike force to fight for a place, then in turn force the "1st choice" strikers like defoe(atm)/rooney try and save thier place. This goes full circle and England get a decent strike force who are commited to thier team.

It was Carson's fault he came out, Terry saw him, then he stopped, Terry looked to clear, so he started coming again, Terry expects Carson to come clear the ball and take Terry with him if need be, Carson stops and stands, German striker nips in and scores.
Terry took the blame after the game as a way of trying keep Carson spirits up. Terry knew he wasn't in the wrong, you can tell by there respective faces when the incident occured, but thought I'll accept the blame because I know myself I wasn't to blame so it won't affect me.

May seem a crazy suggestion, but i think Kevin Davies would offer England something, i think he at least deserves a place in the squad, he's the kind of player i would love at stoke.

He'd have more fouls against him than Crouch. I think we'll continue to see good things from Rooney now we have a proper Manager in charge.
