Actually, thinking about it it could be that the club (possibly quite rightly) wouldn't want to get involved because it could potentially drag the story out and put it at a higher prominence (Stoke try to make good the damage by their thuggish fans, sort of spin).
For that reason it's probably all the more likely that something would happen if we did it off our own back. So if Smudge/anyone computer literate would set up some safe way of donating that would definitely get to yer man then I reckon we'd have the money within 24 hours.

I spoke to the club earlier asking if they would be responsible for donations towards this happening and they were very keen to do *something* connected to it but they've said they'll get back to me. When they do I'll let yez know.

Great idea, hope the club react on all issues raised like sack the bottling 'so-called security stewards' for a start and the scum that did it should and will be dealt with soon the chav scum of society.
Certainly are not stoke fans.

Many apologies for the late reply but only got home after a long day in London. (Dinner in dog and all that!)
I did have a reply from Tony Scholes, and in fairness to him I won't publish on here. He's never ignored any of my mails, as I think he knows I'm well meaning in my attempts to assist where I can. He may not like what I say, but we all have our differences. And he (and Peter Coates) know my thoughts about certain aspects of the club management, but I don't own or manage the business.
I'm not entirely sure about the answer and I don't know what the club plans are but I understand that the club is "on top of the situation". Not sure what that means exactly, but most importantly I hope that Martin is recovering, his lad, his family and friends fully remain on side.
Our Oatcake idea, in my mind, remains an ideal way to give the best indication of club unity with its fans and the proverbial single finger salute to the thugs.
I'm sure we've all made a difference in bringing our concerns to the club's attention, regarding this shocking and completely unacceptable situation.
Have a good weekend. Eye.
