To get the best out of Kitson does he need Whelan playing in the middle.
Discuss.

no i don't think so but we do need on on the CM to play higher up the pitch so then he doesn't have to drop so much i think that lenny when he's fit again should play in the centre
think he'll do alot better in the centre can play the through ball very well as we saw against villa

Yes he needs Whelan or Soares playing behind him, he also needs Lawrence and a decent left winger getting balls in to his feet

last night proved that the Pulis system doesn't suit him. He looked an excellent player when he received the ball at his feet and had colleagues around him.
If we can get the ball into his feet in league games he wil create plenty of chances for Fuller thats for sure. The two of them could be a very exciting strike force if given the opportunity.
Unfortunately we will use him in the withdrawn role, bang it long and ask him to chase around like a blue arsed fly

I come away from the game last night thinking just that, i noticed Kitson applauding Wheelan for a couple of quality intelligent passes he made, wheelan is the only stoke midfielder capable of this when lawrence isn't playing.
last night you could see that kitson was enjoying the game with us trying to play a bit of ball to feet stuff,
Kitson looked an intelligent player last night and got himself in a few good positions up front only to be completly missed by the stoke player with the ball.
Kitson IMO definatley needs Wheelan in the team and we also need this January a couple of pacey wingers with a good cross are ESSENTIAL if we are to see the best of Kitson, i cant remember 1 cross coming in from the by-line last night, all our play was down the center and hoof ball.
We are in desperate need of pacey wide men without doubt.

Whelan,Liam,Tongue,Pugh (based on last night @ least) Ollie on a good day, maybe Soares & certianly Fuller are all more than capebale of playing decent link up football with Kitson on the deck.
nothing wrong with our physical approach & indeed nothing wrong with playing it long if & when it suits the players on the pitch.
we have looked at our best since TP came back when we have had a few 'footballers' on the pitch & have mixed our game up.
Every game is different of course but a good balanced approach has to be the way forward.
I think if TP can get even just 1 decent 'footballer' (ideally good left winger imho) in January & with Liam to come back we could look a really good side,at least at home.
In the meantime I would like to see Tongue get a game or two after his good show v Sunderland

I was gob smacked by the ability that Kitson showed last night, I really had no idea the lad possesses so much skill and vision. It was certainly no coincidence that he was playing with a midfield that could 'play' a bit.
A very defensive midfield that plays hoof ball simply isn't going to result in us seeing the best of Kits. On another thread I mentioned that quite possibly you could put Berbatov in our current Prem starting eleven and he too might not fare any better.
I would have thought that Pulis didn't originally intend to play with a midfield that was designed to stop rather than create or else why would he have pursed Pennant and Ledley so vigorously?
Of course we know that there isn't a cat in hells chance of seeing anything but an ultra defensive midfield unit at Old Trafford on Saturday, but I really can't see why we can't try a midfield of Delap, Diao, Whelan and Soares at home against Brazil.
cheers Paul

I said the same on a thread the other day. If he isn't getting service from the flanks then we need a player like whelan to put balls through to his feet, obviously good delivery out wide is important but whelan & kitson suit each others play
