Wasn't a huge shock to me you deservedly beat us as I have said before you look more of a team than us at the minute and it being just after the derby match.
Well done aginst Arsenal aswell btw, I haven't been here for a few weeks but not because you beat us just been away. Get the feeling its going to be a long hard season again for us, coaching / organisation not up to scratch. good luck with the rest.

Sunshiner, what do you think of Keane so far? Is it acceptable for a bloke to spend what he's spent and still have it look like it's going to be a long season there?

Wenger is about to crack, it's that simple.
Keane is too worried about his image and actually did well last year to justify his spend as Derby and Birmingham went down.
He trys to remain cool on the touchline and then tries to be Mister tough guy to the media with the odd wise crack.
He's bought a couple of big time charlies past their sell buy date and his empire is about to implode as this year he will be found out.

Sorry it took so long wasn't ignoring you just not online. I know there are a few who dislike Keane on here so here is my view for what it is worth. People forget Keane is a rookie manager and a little slag needs to be given for that, but that time is / has run out for me, especially repeated mistakes. He spent £30 Million last season and roughly £25 Million this season. The season in the championship he came in on practically deadline day and got what he could from where ever he could, mostly people he already knew. How we got up without really a team is beyond me, but we did. Given the stigma around the club lowest points ever yoyo club etc I honestly thought we would struggle to get players and that proved to be the case, so we got what we could and overpayed on some. Even then we still didn't get all we needed and the club with an eye on the future also put relegation clauses in the contracts for players wages. I wasn't pleased with all the signings or the money paid but understood it and it was also Keanes first transfer summer, with only a few contacts and no scouting system at the club. tbh I thought it would be touch and go if we stayed up, we got lucky with Jones which was the difference for us last season. If Mido or Nugget had come we wouldn't of had Jones and probably would be back in the CCC now. The addition of Bardsley, Reid and on loan Evans also kept us up. This season although overpaid again the quality is better but in my view we are still missing a good CM and CH. I was expecting more choices to be made from a bigger pool given the club had spent the year putting in a scouting network and obviously had 2 transfer tracks one for the first team one picking up cheapish youngsters with potential that may or may not make it. As the summer dragged on it became obvious that Keane had very few targets in mind, he just wanted prem experience and certain players which meant inevitably we overpayed, he is on record as saying he didn't buy players scouts highlighted and bought a couple that scouts suggested he shouldn't. He has a negative approach to games so I don't think he is getting the best out of what we have, his friend is coach but I still see the same mistakes week in week out, we lack balance, organisation and a leader. Some of his choices in players and subs are just weird. Part of the reason we score so many late goals is that is the only time in the game we seem to go forward in enough numbers to cause other team problems and thats because we have too. For me this is a big season for him, I wouldn't be in any hurry to get him signed up on a contract I would prefer to see how the season pans out. The coaching and transfer need to improve and I think any decent manager with the resources given to Keane in the summer and the future would make a decent fist of the job. Indeed I am sure a few managers have envious eyes on Keane as he has total control and money to spend, another £50 Million having been put aside recently for the next 2 years (through shares not loans). Whatever happens from here on in, Keane came to manage us when nobody else would, he put some pride back into the club from being a laughing stock previously so we owe him a lot. His honesty does him credit but he needs to look at himself a bit more for the problems we have, coaching, transfers and team selection. Sorry it was so long winded, but Stoke and Sunderland are proper football clubs with proper fans so I have no axe to grind with clubs like yours.

Keanes involvement has also lead to significant interest in the club in Ireland and every sports shop sells Sunderland shirts along with all of the obvious other ones...
