He was born in England so he is British but he has played football for Eire by virtue of his ancestry. So he can never play for England.
I suppose he could get recalled to the Eire squad - but do they have the players to take advantage of his throws. I can't see Whelan getting on the end of many! ;D

Rory Delap rules out Ireland recall By Amanda Little
Last updated 12:53, Tuesday, 21 October 2008
Rory Delap believes his chances of winning a recall for the Republic of Ireland have gone.
The former Carlisle United star, who hit Stoke City’s winner in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Spurs, has won 11 international caps but has not played for Ireland for four years.
His phenomenal throw-ins for Stoke City in the Premiership have won his rave reviews and his Potters team-mate and Irish midfielder Glenn Whelan has called for him to be brought out of the international wilderness.

Well as above he is Irish for starters and im not sure why he isnt in the Ireland squad but i hope to see him in the next squad. If a Manure reserve player like Gibson makes the 1st team surely Roroy is asured of a place in the squad

I hope the Irish don't recall him. He aint getting any younger and being dragged around Europe playing international games won't be good for Stoke. A little selfish I know but he is too important to us to take the risk.

I think he should be recalled for ireland on his overall performance this season - no just his throws. his all round play has been fantastic this season so far.

The only problem everyone is pointing out here: On international duty, meaning he would get tired easily, and he could pick up injuries.
Stoke hero, or International hero? I know which id prefer.

Even if Rory was English, having a long throw wouldn't instantly mean England call up. No way, Rory could shift any of the England midfield at the moment
