So. Andy Gray, former Centre Forward, renowned for scoring headed goals from crosses (and, maybe, the odd Trevor Steven long throw?) is going to give tips on how to defend against us. That'll do nicely. Hopefully, a few more og's could be on the way in our favour.

Kamara was on about it this morning, saying that opposition should have men on each post and essentially treat it as you would a corner, and man mark the four Stoke players in the box.

So the defensive coaches employed by the top clubs in the world's top division have struggled to come up with a tactic to defend it, but Andy Gray and his magic fucking pen has the answer. Can't wait!
Here's my tip......injure Rory in the first minute of the match so he has to go off.

Andy Gray mentioned something I was thinking about the other day, and that is, teams DO deal with them, we don't score off every throw, so the key to combatting them is by not giving them away or giving away as few as possible, but that is easier said than done, as a lot of defenders first instinct is to boot the ball out to safety, I had to laugh yesterday when a Arsenal player scamppered to stop the ball from going for a corner only to put the ball out for a throw ;D
I'm also struggling to understand how exactly teams practice on them in training, presumably you'd need some who could lob it in like Rory does, so you can never really prepare for it.
Putting players on the post might be a good idea in theory, but if one of our players gets a head onto it from that close, chances are it's going to go in, ....
Another thing that might work is having the keeper come out for it and then just fall over, as the ref is always inclined to give the benefit of the doubt to the keeper and give a foul.

A bit like Joe Hart did Serpico? Yes, something like that. Strange really isn't it ? a keeper can come out and completely wipe strikers out, yet as soon as a striker so much as breaths on a keeper, it's a foul There is no fool proof plan to combatting them really and even if teams find a system that works to stop them, we can adjust it a little bit and work on some new way of utilizing it.

For instance, if they put players on the posts, we can load more players into the box etc.

I'm glad to see you've chirped SGS. What a difference a week makes .. ? I think you will find that I commented on Ted's post about my thoughts regarding last week. In hindsight, I was probably pressing the self destruct button and my comments were a little OTT. My comments still boil down to my desire for the team to do well, like every stokie. Even when I am critical, which to be honest, is rare, I still love the club and the team. I made it very clear that I was PRO Pulis even after last week. I desperately want us to succeed as does every Stokie. Iam sure you feel the same. SGS
