Now, I caught the end of TP's interview last night but why exactly was Hoult available for yesterday?
A straight red card means a three match ban.
Hopefully someone can elaborate for me!

I wondered the same thing myself. I also thought that bans incurred in a league match affect the cup - but I may be wrong?

Think you will find that a sending off in the Championship (or Premiership) means a ban from those matches not the FA Cup.

It was reduced to a one-game ban for some reason!

I think the ref deemed the offence to be "denying a goalscoring opportunity", rather than serious foul play or violent conduct.
Apparently, the rules state that the punishment for the so-called "professional foul" red card is a one-match ban, whereas the other 2 incur the 3-match penalty?

Fullermagic is spot on.
A professional foul merits only a 1 game ban.
We had originally been given the impression from the ref of the plymouth game, that he was sending Hoult off for a more serious offence, which would have merited a 3 game ban.

Thanks chaps.
Seems a bit strange as he had absolutely no intention to play the ball- literally chopped the man down!
Hey ho, at least we have a sub keeper now!
