I have adopted Bath City FC (Blue Square South) as my second team because of family links with the area, and in support of their plucky supporters who have to cope with the Rugby Union tyranny of Bath. Was down there from Friday last week until yesterday (one of the removal men who came to pack up furniture etc. from my late parents' flat in Bath had a go at me for our loss against Man City responded, when I asked who he supported, Man Utd, in a broad Bath/Brizzle accent : . Went to see them play Newport County AFC in the Setanta Cup Rd. 2- 450 attendance, with fans of both sides mingling. Nice to stand for a change. 4:1 win to Bath City, and entertaining match played in the right spirit. Talking to Bath fans - and this is where the Stoke connection comes in! - there are 2 current Stoke players they all know, and speak of postively. See if you can guess which 2. Had to laugh when Bath brought on a 2nd half sub, and the Bath fan I was with said "I've never rated him when I've seen him play, and he's our most expensive player. Don't know what we pay him £400 a week for".

Hmmm, haven't got a clue which Stoke players they know Robin- can you enlighten us? I think they know more than 2, if only from watching MOTD and reading the papers - more a case of the 2 they all mentioned and identified the current team with James.

Delap I should think. Or possibly Mama? Rory it is - his long throws are even being noticed in football backwaters like Bath!

My missus works at a nursery in Warwickshire and this five year old girl asked her who I support. All of a sudden, this little girl starts writing down the names of our 'stars'- Sorensen, Delap and Fuller! We're becoming well known! City are back

We should snap up that Dave Gilroy I went to Oldham on Tuesday and their 19 year old striker (Lewis Alessandra) grabbed the match ball. I think we have sorted out Tone's shopping list for January ;D

I'd say of players outside the top four or five teams, Rory is now one of the better known Premiership players to the average, armchair, TV watching, footy "fan".

ridiculas wages these days £400 a week! 0.25% of Robinho's wages - that's probably equivalent to a little toe. ???

I went down to Worcester City who are also a Blue Sq South club for the pre-season friendly v a Stoke City X1. It was quite amusing to hear their supporters pointing out whenever our 15,16 amd 17 year olds, who comprised most of the team, showed apparent "Premier League class".

Bath & Worcester both being egg-chasing towns Mark - good that there are a faithful few who follow their local football team in that environment.

For some bizarre reason I went down to Worcester v Nuneaton last season. It was great to watch 'proper' football and 'proper' supporters.
If someone makes a mistake they just laugh whereas if a Stoke player makes an error i can barely bring myself to watch!
I think the result was 4-0 to Nuneaton but an enjoyable trip down. I believe they are moving ground in the next couple of years.
Robin- do Bath still play at Twerton Park? I see Team Bath are in the First Round of the Cup again (wasn't Paul Tisdale boss last time around?)

For those who may not be completely aware Bath City FC are a totally dfferent club from Team Bath. Team Bath (footbal/hockey/rugby name your sport) are University teams.
BCFC still play at Twerton, I pass it every day on the train into work.

I went to a speedchoice course in Taunton and got speaking to a Bath supporter and the conversation turned to Pulis, Coates and Delap. Wished Stoke good luck for the season and thought Wenger was a whinger. Top bloke. Sat amongst Spurs, Bath, Bristol City and Liverpool fans who all commented on Delaps super power All positive comments

City are back I'm surprised a five year old girl had heard of Sorensen and even more surprised she could spell it I think I was struggling to spell my own name at that age! A new generation of Stokies! ;D
