From the games I've seen this season, one thing is apparent and consistent, and that is the lack of confidence our players have on the ball.
Against Spurs and Man City especially we looked extremely nervous on the ball. Everything is so laboured and trapping/ control of the ball seems so contrived by th players.
I know this 'manufactured' process of play is largely due to the pace of the premier league and the skill of the opposition, however if we had a player who we could channel the ball through, I think it would rub off on the others. For example Geovanni at Hull (I say reluctantly)
Thoughts?

Geovanni has played alot better than i expected, i think the problem is that we have a championship midfield, every midfielder was playing in the championship last season, where as hull have a mixture.
we seem ok expect for a 15minute spell each game where we seem to completly panic e.g just after out goal against spurs, just after fuller's goal against villa ect

This might sound insane, but we lack a Graham Kavanagh, remember in wigans first season in the prem he was instrumental, a cool head on the ball able to calm things down and distribute the ball, all we seem to have is engines who'll run around all day but are useless with the ball at their feet

Personally I'd like to see Soares & Whelan given the opportunity in the middle of the park with Delap on the left and Lawrence (when fit) on the right. Soares & Whelan both look comfortable on the ball and in Whelan we have a man whose fitness and confidence on the ball is what we have lacked from Seyi in recent games (imo). Glen has proved that he is fit enough and not overawed with his international displays this season. Seyi looks uncomfortable in possesion and is prone to 20 minute periods in matches where he sits off the opposition.

Personally I would like to see
Ronaldinho--Kaka---Pirlo----Messi
All not Premiership players, but could still do well

The bloke gives the ball away four times out of five when he gets it!
