The way we're set up I just can't see us winning away. Everything we do is aimed at getting a point or at best snatching something on the break. And to be fair I'll think we'll probably take a few points a la Liverpool, but I just can not fathom where we'll get 3 points playing like we do away from home.
Just emphasises how important our home form is going to be - we've really got to batter teams at the Brit...starting on Tuesday...

When we play at home we seem to have no fear and just stick it to them whether we win or not. Away we look edgey, nervous and as if it's an honour to play these teams in these big stadiums and give them to much respect.
I honestly can't see an away win so our home form is so important it's going to put pressure on the team at home.

If we need 40 pts to stay up, we will need to get at least 30/35 pts at home, cant see it mesen.

We're going to have to get two or three away to survive imho, on the evidence of the Liverpool game I thought I could see how that was going to happen with the right breaks, even if they were lucky wins. And chances are at least one side will get so demoralised during the season that they won't turn up at home against us. But to be clutching at straws like this in October really isn't good...

we will win eventually. bear in mind, we have visited some tough grounds already. Every ground you go to could be considered tough, I don't think you can keep using that as a excuse, today ok, not many teams will go to Man City and get anything, but you get the feeling we will struggle in all our away games, mainly due to the way we set up to play.

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way
Oh what fun it is to see, City win away
I think it will happen, and when it does we must build on it and win the next home game as well
Dont know where, dont know when, but I know we"ll meet again some sunny day

Looking at our away games so far..Bolton, Boro, and Portsmouth were all winnable...but we ended up with nowt...although to be fair we have played quite well...but the mark of a good team is that it can play badly and win..a poor team plays well but loses.. Unless we start attacking teams more away from home..which of course leaves us open for a good tonking...we aren't going to pick up many points... Option 1..Play it tight and down the middle and lose by the odd goal Option 2..Open up and play the ball out wide with 3 up front and we get slaughtered quite a lot but win a handful of games.. Your call Tone..

At half-time on Sunday, I thought, realistically, that is as well as we can do/play in an away game.
We had an attacking threat, creating three excellent chances, and had other very presentable openings (Mama clear on the left, Fuller isolated Dunne a couple of times). And, at the back, we looked comfortable, with the Man. City midfield often resorting to long balls, which didn't come off.
We didn't take our opportunities and we conceded a soft goal. The second killed us.
We rely on staying in the game. If we could get the first goal at, say, Wigan it COULD be a different story. However, even if we do get ahead somewhere, we need to really show fortitude; the disappointing thing about Pompey was the way they carved us apart immediately after we'd scored.
I'm still pissed off about the Bolton game. It was criminal to go into that game underprepared. Points are very hard to come by, yet we gifted a rival three on a plate.

Perhaps at Wets Brom or Fulham but apart from that no. Obviously we sit too too deep, don't press the ball and have very limited ability to play counter attacking football because of lack of pace and lack of midfield support.

Look at the stats.. When we've scored first (Villa..Spurs) we've gone on to win the game (3-2..2-1) and when we've conceded first (Bolton, Boro, Everton, Chelsea, Portsmouth, Man City)..we've always lost... So the importance of scoring the first goal is absolutely crucial... Just have a think about that Tone..we could have been one up at Bolton, Portsmouth and Man City and had our strikers been more clinical..we would now be sitting in the top half of the table..rather than embroiled in a relegation scrap..
