hi lads, somehow i have managed to blow my lights!!! everything else works its just the lights i have replaced the fuse wire but they are still not coming on. struggling workwise at the mo so cant afford to get anyone in however if anyone would be kind enough to offer me free advise over the phone to a fellow stokie please please message me.

Obviously your lights will operate off there own fuse on your dist board / consumer unit.
If you have changed this fuse / fuse wire and it still doesn't work then you will probably need to check all the light fittings as it is probably that that is causing the other lights not to work.
I'm not a spark though just to caveat myself ;D

thnx looney but cant see any obvious signs anywhere [its too dark!!! lol] cant understand why my house built in the eighties has an old fashioned fuse box with wire fuses!!. either

thnx looney but cant see any obvious signs anywhere [its too dark!!! lol] cant understand why my house built in the eighties has an old fashioned fuse box with wire fuses!!. either Fair enough ;D Go to Maplins then and but the new-style fuses and replace the old ones - you should need a 32A, a 16A and two 5/6A - they don't cost much either (don't quote me on the amps though) If this doesn't fix your problem then you will have an issue with one of the lights breaking the main ring. Which prob means spark time.

get a torch and a screwdriver and check all swithes and light fittings for loose connections, make sure you switch off at main box though, and also if you die as a result of my advice i bare no responsability ;D
make sure you keep a note of all connections though(i would check light fittings first)
