Watford, who look set to lose star striker Marlon King to the Premier League, want Luton's Dave Edwards for £700k and another Marlon, Harewood, who has struggled to make an impact at Aston Villa. Stoke City though, look set to meet Villa's £1.8 million valuation for the striker and will also complete the signing of Derby full-back Andy Griffin for £300k. They are also keen on Preston midfield maestro Simon Whaley - as are Palace - following the sale of Peter Sweeney to League One Leeds. uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/06012008/58/championship-transfer-talk-qpr-keep-flashing-cash.html

Harewood and Fuller up front would be the dream ticket. Pace, power and decent finishing. lets hope there is some truth in this.

Im sorry but if we were to sign these players we would have promotion in the bag for me. Automatic spots not being understated at all.

Scored 16 goals in the Prem in 05-06. And 22 in the Championship in 04-05 And 26 in the Championship in 03-04. And 21 in the Championship in 02-03. That'd do me

I am quite sure a certain Preston manager said that about Pugh .. .. .. (that is he's going nowhere . .) It would be one hell of a signing I have to say!

I think it'd be a pretty amazing signing if there was anything in it. Wasn't he being half-mentioned for an England call-up as recently as the run-up to the World Cup in Germany?
Okay, he's become invisible at Villa and his form must have dipped, but if it hadn't he wouldn't even be mentioned in the same paragraph as someone like us.
He does seem slightly unrealistic though, and he's never struck me as particularly good in the air, which you'd think would be a major factor in TP choosing a new partner for Fuller (although he seemed prepared to give Parkin a chance to shine up there and he's desperately poor in the air)

for some reason i think if t.p had a chance to sign a player like harewood, he wouldnt pass up the oppurtunity

If Harewood signs we'd be odds on for automatic promotion. It would also send a clear message to everyone, Stoke supporters included that peter coates is not pissing around and has got the cheque book loaded and open. Oh it's soooooo good being a Stokie right now.

Do you think we might get 14000 at the next game if Coates invests???

mark, it would certainly help us maintain our position
it will take some doing to chase watford and west brom, both of whom have the depths of squads we envy

Could we afford his wages?? must be on Prem money at Villa, but who knows if Mr Coates is serious he just might push the boat out!!!

Post by Stick It On Cort's Head on Jan 6, 2008 13:51:16 GMT
im sure we would be able to, we have plenty of money now
probably on 15,000 at villa ???he probably would take a wage cut in a bid to get first team footballl aswell.
even so i believe getting him on loan seems the most likely

If Harewood is sold by villa he is entitled to have his contract paid up in full, including any loyalty bonus's. If Stoke give him a 3 year contract and he's only 18 months through a 4 year contract he'll be getting paid by 2 clubs for 30 months so the money shouldn't be a problem. I work with a Baggies supporter and he is very unsure about their prospects saying they aren't consistent enough. Were 4 points off top and have got to play both Watford and Bristol yet so it's in our hands. Watford are very unpredictable and could finish top or 10th. Like super tone said after the Hull away game, most clubs have spent their money, we haven't. If we get the players Triffic wants there is nothing stopping us getting a top 2 finish.
If we get the players Triffic wants there is nothing stopping us getting a top 2 finish. God i thought I'd never say that about Stoke, ain't it just grand being a stoke supporter ;D

It dont matter how much Harewood on a week , sure if he got us up Coates would gladly meet his demands. lets be positive stoke cuz if we dont do it this year cannot see same spending power next year, then we be fooked?
