Received letter, 48mph in 40mph zone.
Seen a post on here previously detailing what to contest ?
Any help would be appreciated.

Whilst we're on the subject, I got caught stealing a bag of pringles and a bottle of wine from the local Offy last Friday.
Is it worth contesting? I wasn't stealing much?
Kind regards

I got done in Wales and had the option of the points or a speed awareness course, i took the course. The easiest solution is pay the fine and take the points unless it takes you over 12 points that is. There are plenty of template letters on the web you can use to contest the charge but you have to pay for them. Heres a site for some sound advice, www.expertlaw.com/library/traffic_tickets/speeding_ticket.htmlMy advice after taking the course is dont speed.

I'd seen a post previously where it was suggested that a request for camera calibration certificates was beneficial etc

I'd seen a post previously where it was suggested that a request for camera calibration certificates was beneficial etc So they have the camera calibrated and its, Lets say its + or- 5mph out, that makes it that you were doing either 53 or 43 mph in a 40 mph zone, Still over the speed limit by 3 oy 13 either way and thats IF its out at all. I know how you're feeling mate, Its like you're being mugged or robbed and there's nothing you can do to stop it, At least Dick Turpin had the good grace to wear a mask when he commited highway robbery.

if its any help - i work at a magistrates court and generally 10% above the limt is viewed empathetically. since you were doing above 44 mph i would suggest pleading guilty at the earliest opportunity as credit is given for a timely guilty plea (to reduce prosecution costs)! any appeal or attempt at trial could well prove costly, if you have no solid defence!
i know thats probably not what you want to hear, but to contest the summons could have a more unfavourable outcome!
Good Luck, though!

Sometimes it really isn't worth contesting because unless you can pay that footballers friend lawyer (Mr Loophole or something similar) ransom then you will probaby struggle to get away with it.

Contest it by telling them you didnt realise what speed you were doing due to being pissed, and also didnt realise cos you were talking to someone on your phone as well. I recently got hit with 60 quid fine and 3 points for driving thru a red light in Leicester. It was on amber just as got to them and i was towing a caravan too, so i just went thru cos i thought itd be safer than braking quickly and jacknifing the caravan. But hey! Who gives a fuck about causing an accident just so long as theres another 60 quid in the road coppers piss up pot!

Even better buy a car registered in Guernsey. They don't even bother chasing you for the fine ! GD

mr wheeze you caravaner you should of been hit with a fine of£600 just for towing a caravan. and if i had my way caravans would only be towed on a sat night /sun morning fekin things. and by the way if you are in a long vehicle and go thru lights on amber you would fail your test, if your speeding approaching lights you fail your test.its called safety! i am against speed cameras but there are certain sites where they are justified i.e. accident blackspots busy traffic lights etc

Speed kills, take the medicine and stay under the speed limit. I know it sounds harsh but i've seen what speed can do whether it be 8 mph or 80mph over the limit.
I gree don't speed simple as. There should be nothing to contest here.

I speed everywhere but slow down for cameras i aint gonna lie when i'm late for work i'll put my foot down, if i wanna get home i'll put my foot down, i dont drive dangerously or overtake like a dick but if the road is empty i put my foot down a bit, you fine me someone that sticks to EVERY single speed limit.

Twisty ffs speed limits are there for your safety doing what you do is very irresponsible boardering on wreckless. 30 or 40 mph limits are usually there because of road junctions, built up areas where pedestrians can be a hazard etc etc. So just because there are no cars about doesn't make it safe to floor the accelerator.

Speed limits are there for a reason, They are not target speed ie it says 50 so you must do 50, they are there for yours and the publics safety, the public being other people who may be injured or even killed by a speeding driver, and like you point out most people speed and these people are the ones that cause the accidents, i used to speed everywhere till i went on the course i mentioned above and it showed me what a selfish twat i was.

We all drive thru lights just as they change to amber. I was just unlucky enough to get caught. The car went thru on green while the caravan went thru on red!

mr wheeeze if i had my way caravans would be banned from the road. i repeat if you drive like that on your test you will fail. may i ask what happens to the person going thru green at the lights as you tow your caravan ?he/she has to take evasive action?one day you will get caught out. how do you fancy a 40 tonner smashing thru your door? might give you a headache
