I remember the Vic. Parking up in Fletcher Road, walking down Spode (Dog Shit) Street etc I also remember exiting on to Liverpool Road and thinking James Street was the steepest road in the World. Steeper even than that Hovis fucker I was 7 then. Im 49 now and the South Car Park doesnt cut it with me

Well Swampy, at least you only had to do that walk about once a fortnight.
Spare a thought for us who were paperlads up that way, doing James St, Chamberlain Avenue, Penkhull New Road and Honeywall twice a day with 50 copies of The Sun or The News of The World on your back! Good God, I sound like my old man! ;D

when I've won the Euromillions after a 26 week rollover I'm going to buy SCFC & build a new ground right at the top of Penkhull & make everyone walk!

went down there on a bike once, the scary thing was stopping at the bottom . it may have been steep but it wasn't that long .
Fastest I ever went on a push bike was down "Black Bank" from halmer end to silverdale , had one of them digital speedos on my bike that were fairly new back then, me n me mate chopper hit 48MPH on our racers down there, but then we did have quick bikes. I had a Raleigh Record Sprint , he had a similar model , with shitter tyres . I also used to hit over 40 regularly down clayton bank on the way home from school, once overtaking one of my teachers who was in a car ;D
