Bolton wanderers - Uefa cup side two seasons ago, stable premiership outfit for nearly 7 years, in the last few seasons Bolton have beaten the likes of Man Utd and Atletico Madrid at the reebok, its a tough place for any side to go, and bar the fluke goal, it'll could've proven to be a different game.
Aston Villa - A stable premiership outfit since the beginning in 1992, European cup winners, 7-time FA Cup winners, finished 6th in the prem last season, a magnificent result against them.
Middlesborough - stable prem side throughout there time in the league on and off since 92', finished around mid-table last season, previous good uefa cup runs, league cup winners a few years ago, a strong home side, also known to beat big names sides at their ground, a game where we were unlucky, red card killed us off sadly.
Everton - nearly suceeded in breaking into the top 4 last season, but finished a very impressive 5th, arteta, cahill, yakubu, are a number of class players they have, another side who compete in the uefa cup. A game again, i thought we did enough to warrant a point in.
Liverpool - well...i know there success of winning the league hasn't been recent, but there history shows how bigger club they are, sell their ground every week, world class players like gerrard and torres, champions league winners a few years ago, speaks for itself really, and shows just how huge our point at Anfield was.
Chelsea - Another dominant world-wide force, with drogba, lampard, terry, cech, ballack etc...i think we all know we are going to really struggle to compete with that, yesterday i thought chelsea were excellent, and despite a spirited effort by the lads, we were beaten by a far superior side unfortunately.
But lets put those games and opponents in perspective, uefa cup contenders, FA Cup and champions league winners, premier league winners, and players who are probably close to matching the valuation of our squad.
This season isn't a stroll its a marathon, and we need to stay positive.
Maybe kitson and sidibe up-front isn't the answer, maybe it's time tonge featured more, i'm not disagreeing with alot of peoples points, i just think we should leave pulis too do what he feels necessary, ive got to be honest playing two target men up-front yesterday, and cressy on the wing over tonge, was bizarre, but pulis got us here, by taking this approach, building from the back, and playing to our strengths, so i'm sure he'll do his upmost to maintain our top flight status.
Lets worry if we lose to the likes of Hull, west brom, fulham, wigan etc...at home, these are games we need full houses for, top draw performances for, and 3 points from, anything in my opinion against the top 4 and even the 4-5-6 place sides is a nice bonus.
Beat the sides around us and we can do this, pompey and spurs are their for taking, forget the chelsea game, its finished now, we were beaten by a better team.
The reaction when we went behind against chelsea yesterday, was magnificent, the task ahead is huge, and no games are gimmies, ignore what hull are doing, because as ive said before the bragging rights come after the arsenal game in May, the business end of the season are where points are gold-dust.
