Looks like Sunday's going to be the most watched, most discussed, and most reported-on Stoke game for decades nationally.
Shame that it takes a Premier League soap opera storyline to get this level of interest focused on us!

All publicity is good. Let's hope we can turn over Newcastle and show people we are serious candidates for the Premiershit.

A good performance by us may also be useful in persuading any potential future signings that we can go up this year! Fingers crossed!!

Lets just hope we put on a show like we did against the baggies and not like we had to suffer against Hull.
C'mon Stoke!!!

'Lets just hope we put on a show like we did against the baggies'
What? Defend for 70 minutes and rely on a one man show?
If we play the same way against Newcastle we could get dicked. Our two banks of four defenders would be murdered by the extra skill and pace that Newcastle have up front.
Another example of the result clouding peoples judgement on the game it seems.

I've gone from being excited as hell about it to nervous as hell after what i saw against Hull. Could turn out to be the biggest embarrassment for a long while with it being on BBC prime time.

I should have clarified it and said "the first half"

Joey Barton to remain in custody
Newcastle and England midfielder Joey Barton has been remanded in custody by magistrates in Liverpool. The player, who is charged with common assault and affray following an incident in the city's Church Street area, was refused bail by the court.
The 25-year-old, who has been in custody for a week, is due back in court on 16 January.
He was arrested with his 19-year-old brother Andrew and Nadine Wilson, 27, from Huyton, Merseyside.
The charges follow an alleged confrontation at a McDonald's at 0530 GMT on Thursday.
Mr Barton, of Widnes, Cheshire, was jointly charged with his brother, Andrew, also of Widnes, who is accused of assault causing actual bodily harm and affray.
Ms Wilson is charged with common assault and affray.
Both were granted bail at a hearing before Liverpool magistrates on 28 December.

Agree FullerMagic, AND it's just a pity that it's a pretty meaningless match this season for us as well. The game is far more important to ,castle and at the end of the day, that could just tip it in their direction.
Anyway, 1-1 WILL be the final score, with the replay again screened live for the same reasons.

they are going to have all there African players available so presumably we will have mama
SAM Allardyce has confirmed that he expects to have Oba Martins available for next weekend's game at Man Utd but says that Habib Beye, Abdoulaye Faye and Geremi will all head off to the African Cup of Nations after Sunday's FA Cup clash at Stoke City.
The tournament kicks-off in Ghana on January 20 and United had thought they would lose the services of top scorer Martins after Wednesday's game against Man City.
But Allardyce told Newcastle World TV that he expects his seven-goal striker to link-up with the Nigeria squad after the trip to Old Trafford on January 12.
"I think we might have Oba for the Man Utd game," said Sam.
"But the rest will be here for Sunday and after that I think they are away.
"It's a big miss for us, but we knew that at the start of the season, and we've got to deal with it and move forward."

more importantly let's hope the reporting at the game is all for the right reasons. We do not want to see a Chav on the Shay Given's back knocking seven bells out of him. We do not want to see Michael Owen with a Wright's Meat & Potato pie sliding down his face (although the image is rather funny ) We do not want the referee or linesman requiring hospital treatment following a barage of 2p coins thrown from the crowd We do want all of the media commenting on the passionate and vociferous support for our team

Really hope that Scott Mintoe is the Sky reporter covering the game. He's becoming a bit of a lucky mascot. Absolutely hates everything about Stoke and it's so obvious ;D
