Genuine question!!
I Think all 3 of us are proving alot of doubters wrong so far in this first month?
I would agree that you guy's were unlucky on saturday but luck never does seem to shine on the apparant "lesser teams"
And your long throw tactic some people are slating it saying its the main way you score goals and that well i say if it aint broke dont fix it if it helps keep you up then why stop!!
Keep up the good work and good luck!!

Im enjoying it apart from the media jumping on the long throw bandawagon.
Fuller has scored two great goals from open play and a harshly disallowed goal Sunday.
The fixtures are a bit of a night mare currently but our time will come especially our run in.

Honestly I didn't believe we'd compete as well we have and that we don't feel outclassed - but then it's also hard to believe we might be bottom of the table tonight

Hull,
Thanks for that I was quite pleased you baet Newcastle. I'd like nothing better than all of the so called lesser teams to stay up. The more of the big boys we can drag into the dog fight the better.
Soul,
You're obviously brighter than Algor and I, for managing to spot the gloating in there.

I say fair play to Hull, I know there's no love lost between us but I have have to say I'm actually quite glad they're proving a few people wrong.

Heart attack material to be honest
The pressure in the last few minutes yesterday with three corners and four long throws - willing the equaliser after feeling so deflated after Cahills goal
But what a start at the Brit - two games both ending 3-2
Fantastic entertainment - and we are certainly NOT out of place in the Big League

We've quickly discovered that any defensive errors are costing us matches in which we competed well in. I honestly hope the three promoted teams stay up, just to see the faces of those who predicted naught but doom for us all.

ill be honest mate and say i also didnt think we would compete as much as we are, we have competed in all matches so far even the opening game where we were doing well enough until they scored a fluke. To more than match and be at times better than the likes of Villa and Everton really has made me proud to be a stokie!

We need to be proud n loud all the time! it breaks my heart that we are not getting the breaks which is why i think that we need to pull the squad up, when we are down - you ought to hear us back on the televised match!
So very proud!

To more than match and be at times better than the likes of Villa and Everton really has made me proud to be a stokie! Were you not proud before Obviously i was!, you know what i mean, when everyone from outside of the club was doubting and writing us off so much pre-season to go and show them that we can and will compete just makes me and us feel so good to be a stoke fan even more so than before

Some Vale fan mates were predicting massive thrashings every week and certain humilliation, I said i dont care and i still dont care i'm still over the moon at just being here, we all wanted our day in the sun and now its here we should just sit back and enjoy.

Stoke have now played the best of the rest in Everton and Villa and then there was Boro at Boro where they are very strong. All of these teams have been matched and even bettered for long periods. Our only downer was losing to Bolton who I honestly think we would beat now!
Hull have had an easier start but never the less they have taken adcantage of the cards they you were dealt. Fulham was winnable and Newcastle was perfect timing! Your best result is probably the point at Blackburn and your major blip obviously was Wigan!
From what I have seen none of us should fear this league it really isn't THAT big of a step up so long as the inevitable bad runs don't sap confidence and enthusiasm of players or fans!
Entertainment wise I reckon Stoke must have had the most entertaining matches of anyone in the league. When our players gel I honestly think we'll be in with a very good chance. I would agree with others that it'd be brilliant for three of the 'established teams' fall.

I'm bloody loving it!!!! But its doing my health no good what so ever and if getting carried away a footie match was a criminal offence I'd be locked up and they'd chuck away the key.
we deserve to have a couple of points extra and with our next two easy games I don't think our points tally will improve by much but I'm enjoying every minute of it.

Apart from a poor opening half against Bolton, who I thought we would have faired better against, I've been very encouraged by the way things have gone and feel we are a little unfortunate not to have an extra point or two in the bag.
It's been a difficult start for us, with last years 5th & 6th placed teams at home, a middlesborough side playing well away, and of course the Bolton game where I thought we might get something.
With Liverpool away and Chelsea at home, I'm not sure we could have been dealt a tougher start, but am encouraged by the way we have competed and believe the Manager is correct in saying that we must not get to down on ourselves whilst we get through this very tough run of fixtures.
We've got the arse and ManU following on pretty soon too..............Daunting but exciting, all at the same time ;D

Hello all, had to watch the Blues on the box Sunday, my last visit to the Potteries was a few years ago at Port Vale and I don't wish to be reminded plz! I thought a draw v you lot would have been fair, the worst ref I've ever seen! I think all 3 promoted clubs are doing ok, Hull 5th?! Despite you being 14/1 Saturday it would make my season if you won, all the best, appart from one game of course!

While "the table doesn't lie", does anyone seriously believe that Spurs will be bottom and Hull fifth after another three or four games? The only thing that bothers me now is that we can realistically expect bugger-all from the next two matches, which will put us rock-bottom going into October. I know there's still a long way to go, but the lads are going to have to be on their mettle to get through the next few weeks.
On the positive side, a Vale-supporting colleague of mine was at the match on Sunday with his Everton-supporting son, and he was very complimentary about our style of play and chances of survival.

It's great if a little difficult!! What I have noticed though is that while I have always gone "mental" when Stoke have scored I have found myself going absolutely fucking mental when we've scored. Each goal feels like the MOST important goal we've ever scored. I was trying to explain it to some Vale mates but I'm not sure they understood!!

Post by stokemark on Sept 16, 2008 16:46:25 GMT
Totally agree about the goals Jamo
Everything seems magnified due to the level of importance to us. But its tough getting to grips with losing 3 games already which isnt good. In the Championship there was also the 'well we'll win next week' attitude but with Liverpool and Chelsea coming up then its not quite so straight forward.
In summary, every game feels like the last few of last season - Massive, scary, important and hard !!!
