Brown gone crazy?
Brown going in for Sweeney kill? By CI Reporter - 02/01/2008 10:07
The transfer rumour mill is in full swing as another of Phil Brown's potential targets is revealed to City Independent...
Reports coming in to City Independent suggest that Phil Brown has been running the rule over Stoke City left midfielder Peter Sweeney in the build up prior to the January transfer window opening. Brown is eager to strengthen his side despite a spell of excellent form from his side that has seen City reside in 9th and enjoy five games unbeaten.
Sweeney is presently participating in a loan spell at Stoke's Midlands rivals Wallsall in League One as the Bescot side push for promotion to the Championship. The 6ft Glasgow born midfielder has played seven times this season for the Saddlers - a team now unbeaten in 15 matches in the league below City.
At this stage, it is still unclear how advanced the potential transfer is, but reports from the West Midlands suggest an offer was tabled by the Tigers and accepted by Stoke - hence Peter Sweeney being withdrawn from the Walsall side that drew 1-1 with play-off rivals Doncaster on New Years Day. Sweeney has some Championship pedigree, featuring six times for Stoke this term.

For whatever reasons it's a crying shame that he has never being able to fulfill his talents whilst at Stoke because quite simply Peter Sweeney is one hell of a gifted footballer.

At his best, he's neat and tidy.
But carries all the threat of a muzzled puppy and has the pace of an arthritic tortoise

Well they did shaft us for 250K with Porkin. Maybe it's a karma thing and they want to even things up a bit.
Here's hoping anyway!

Well maybe a little OTT. If Pulis cannot get the best from Sweeney then i very much doubt that any other manager will either.

can't believe this, if true its crazy. sweeney has never really had a decent run in the team, he is ok, but lacks pace and skill to get to the byline to cross the ball. any money for him would be good.

Fingers crossed - this will free wages if this deal goes through. As Gostoke89 said: Any money for him will be good. Why not offer Hull Broomes as well in a "Two for the prize of one"- deal?

Exactly. Someone called Brown a cunt yesterday
Not anymore- top fella if he manages to take Sweeney.
Why on earth would a team in the Championship take him- especially a side challenging for the play offs
