let's face it, our strikeforce and general threat up-front today was not existent.
If pulis is reluctant to play cressy up-front and demar wide, then who will fuller play up-front with?
mama, who i am a big fan of, but let's face it he is completely out of form, and i know he plays a key role in our style of play, but a striker is a striker, and with the flick-on's, holding up of the ball, and service for fuller, MUST come goals.
onto parkin, well last season when he signed on loan, i thought he was a good signing at the time, had an eye for goal, and looking effective with fuller. I think parkin's got it, he can finish, and for a big man, his ball control is good, but he needs to get fit, and prove a point to the fans, because the more i see him, the more i question whether he really does have it.
with the absence of fuller, and this imo being a must win, i thought following fuller's unavailability he would have surely opted for cressy with mama/parkin and demar wide left.
As much as i think TP is a top manager, and can take us up, his picking of teams can often leave me scratching my head, he had to play cressy up-front today for me, and the fact he played 2 strikers who have two goals between them, and are both players who imo are good alongside the likes of cressy/fuller, people who can use there through-balls etc.
When looking at our strikers, also baring in mind mama's going to the ACON, it leaves:
Fuller Parkin Cressy
Cressy of whom as i said, will more than likely remain wide left
Rooney has being finding the net for Chesterfield, and clearly has an eye for goal, we saw that in his hat-trick against Brighton, surely he's worth a gamble?
Thoughts?

But surely he isn't as bad as Pericard no1? I must admit I'd sooner see him on the bench than Vincent or Parkin (in his present state)

In the short term maybe, but I don't think he's a top-end Championship striker any more than Pericant or on present form Parkin. We have to strengthen up front and put ourselves in a position where we can play Cresswell there more often.

No, lets see if we can sign a decent striker in the transfer window, Rooney is hardly going to score more than 2 or 3 if he came back, he's not much better than Parkin IMO!

Rooney is toss, said so for past 2 years, after watching him in reserves, no pace no strength, turns like a p&o ferry.

Agree DNL, seen him a few times down newcastle town, few times, in the reserves.

You guys who know someone in management should tell them to call Sheffield United and ask about getting Luton Shelton on loan. Sheffield bought him for a couple million, I believe, said he was one for the future (even though he was scoring regularly for his club in Sweden) and have not been playing him at all. I know he had a couple isolated sub appearances and maybe one start, but the guy not seen the field.
He would probably be the fastest player at Stoke and very tricky with the ball. Look for him on Youtube.

Re-sign Patterson! Pacey, tricky, smaller scores GOALS x 10 in fact! What a dropped bollock that was!
Sidibe,wank,big,awkward NO GOALS! Pericard,WANK,WANK,NO GOALS! Parkin,Fat,Good potential,Not dedicated enough! 2 GOALS.
Cresswell,Great and scores GOALS! So play him out of position!!! God help us!

No course we aint but theres no way the club should of let him go.
Still think we ought to go for Stuart Fleetwood at Forest Green Rovers. Perhaps some sort of swap deal involving pericard! Thats about his bloody level!

Wheeze, could not believe we let him go and Vass for that matter knowing that the squad minus Diao,Russell,Hendrie,Higgy,Griff etc etc would not be returning and we were left with the smallest poorest squad to start with!
Again before people come on start saying Patto this Patto that but i aint saying he is real top class but he could offer something different with his stature/frame of a smaller striker with pace to get in behind defenders, just look at todays set of frontmen for the answer and to his credit all he wanted to do was play regular football and desperate for him to be with his boyhood club and what do we do offer a pathetic one year deal but told your 5th choice behind the likes of Percard,Sidibe,Parkin,Rooney!!!!!!!!!!
He could of done wonders up with Fuller in an ideal world with his ten goals to boot because Sidibe and the other 2 clowns have 3 between em,pathetic!!! imagine those ten goals with Fullers and the others we could be top now?
