In my opinion it is without a doubt. Now that Man City have been bought by a mega, mega rich set of brothers? They've said that if they have to pay players £500,000 pw, then they will. I think that this will turn football into an even bigger soap opera. Manchester City are about to not just upset the apple cart, they are going to write it off! I think that they (Man City) will lose a lot of credibility in the football fan world. Surely they will be seen to have bought success, fair enough they will have to win the most matches etc.. but will it feel right? It's reported that they will go after Ronaldo and are ready to offer £135m. He will be the first candidate for the wage stated above. Is it exciting for the City fans? I expect it is. Just you watch, the other 'big' clubs will start harping on about wage caps and the like, only because their 'grip' on the Premier League tiltle, FA Cup will have been forced to slip somewhat. I'm waiting for the January transfer window to open, as is, probably, the rest of the footballing community.
Seriously, who thinks that the players who kiss their 'current' club badges won't desert them if MCFC come a knocking? Chelsea will be outbid on any player, something new for them I would have thought. Expect to see the likes of Chelsea, Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal all spitting their respective dummy's out in about six months time.

To be honest even with Man City's billions of pounds, they wont be able to sign the likes of Torres, Fabregas and Ronaldo, they wont be able to attract the players i don't think.
I can't see them breaking into the top 4 this season, and even next season i still see a two-horse race for the title, and Man City at best getting a 4th place finish.
It's similar to QPR who also have millions, they still have to attract these million pound players though, and they are another side despite all their money, that i don't think will suceed this season, i certainly expect they'll be in the top 6, but i don't think they'll go up.
Sadly though i agree money is destroying the game, and a cap on transfer bids, and on weekly wages is crucial, because the longer the scenario goes on, the more clubs will be paying for players, and the more the gap between the top 4 and the rest of the prem will increase.
Maybe a new Super League thing is the answer? Putting the top 2-3 from every league into that league, and giving the other sides in the prem a chance to compete, and make the season more interesting to watch.

I agree with you both, but I do think that this may take football's decline to new level.
