I don't know, but he was the best left sided player I have ever seen play for stoke.

tremendous player overshadowed a bit by Greenhoff and Hudson, like watching a hot knive going through butter he went past people that easily the best midfield of the 70s Salmons,Hudson,Mahoney and TC or Jimmy Robertson

Salmons better than Hooky on the left?
A good player for certain, but not sure he was as good as Beagrie, let alone Hoekstra.

Didn't he also have quite a long throw. Or is my fading memory playing tricks on me?

He did indeed have a long throw, I remember going to an open day( remember them?) before a season started when I think he tried to get into the guiness book of records, am sure I saw that Ross bloke off the program with a tape measure, or then again , it was along time ago, the mind might be playing tricks?

A decent enough player, but I actually thought he was one of the weaker links in our great team. (Nice tash though!)

Wonder if he is still involved in local (Sheffield) politics? Think he was a council member. If so , maybe he can be encouraged to transfer to Stoke.

there is no way hooky was better than salmons. salmons played in a great stoke city side. hooky was very good on his day in the lower divisions. was anyone there that night at chesterfield when hooky destroyed them in the 2nd half?
