With Premier League outfit Newcastle United coming to town on Sunday 6th January for the FA Cup Third Round, Stoke City are calling on the whole of the Potteries to get behind the club ahead of the game.
We have 5,000 limited edition Stoke City scarves (priced £4) for fans to wave as the teams walk out and they are now available on a strictly "first come first served" basis from the Britannia Stadium Superstore, The Britannia Stadium Ticket Office, "The Store" in Hanley (City Centre) and our club shop in the Potteries Shopping Centre (also in Hanley).
At our home game against Hull City on New Years Day, there will also be official scarf sellers around the stadium and additional batches on sale from the Satellite Ticket Office and Delilah's Bar before kick off.
The scarves feature the words "United Strength Is Stronger", which is the translation of the Latin phrase "Vis Unita Fortior" from the Stoke-on-Trent coat of arms.
Prior to the Newcastle United game, we will issue red and white hold-up cards for supporters in the Seddon Stand to hold up and display a screen of red and white stripes as the players walk onto the pitch.
There will also be pirotechniques in front of the stand as the players appear to make for a spectacular entrance for a mouth-watering game.
The teams will be walking out behind a giant rosette showing recognition to the two greats of the two clubs - Sir Stanley Matthews CBE and Jackie Milburn.
Every player will be accompanied by a mascot with Stoke mascots wearing special commemorative shirts with "Matthews 7" featuring on the back, and Newcastle mascots donning "Milburn 9" on the back of theirs.

Barton is in custody and will probably miss out...which is a shame really as given the opportunity I would have gladly inflicted on him what he did to the other Geezer in Liverpool. Pillocks like him should be ousted out of football full stop.
As for the plans for the game well I think it will be a magnificent appreciation of two footballing greats.

I wonder if the red cards were a supporter donation A well done Stoke from me for making the effort. It should hopefully get a great day's entertainment off to a good start.

Good on the club for creating some positive PR for this game. At the end of the day, we may have potential signings watching the game and this type of build up creates a positive image of the club. Well done Stoke ;D

I bet half the wallies don't hold up the cards, so it'll look shite.
Why can't they just hand out scarves on the day?

Good to have a build up and that a fuss is being made. Just hope our crap FA Cup record against top flight clubs doesn't make it all a damp squib in the end.
