Whilst Hull and the Baggies signed players earlier than us i believe Tony has done his transfer business perfectly again.
He seems to enjoy weatching us all wriggle and moan then bang he hits us with another.
He seems excellent at keeping his targets secret .
I posted earlier this season gone are the times when im going to knock him as he always seems to end up right.
Go on Tony your playing a blinder in what can be a difficult first season attracting players.

I tend to agree but will wait until signings are confirmed before declaring Tone a wily transfer fox.

if we get releagted by 1 point or goal difference, will we all be moaning about the Bolton game as a missed opportunity

And Sonko hardly seems a massive step-up on Gardner or Meite, the 2 CBs those 2 have signed for roughly the same cash.
One thing is clear though, Coates has given him a warchest and a half.

I don't think you can argue with the players signed so far this summer. If we do pick up a couple of the targets that have appeared in the media over the last few days, then again, TP - and crew - will have done some excellant work.
What have we spent to date? Close on £15m?
Kitson - £5m+ Oli - £3m Ab Faye - £2.5m Am Faye £1m Davis - £1m (undisclosed, but I thought that was the rumour?)
That's some very decent signings for realistic cash and as we saw against Villa, they give us a chance of survival this term.
The bloke has a good transfer record - with only a couple of FatLad like howlers - But you do feel a couple of his targets (like Cisse) have slipped through his fingers, possibly due to rumours getting out before we could get the deal done.
Whatever, you have to take your hat off to Coates, Pulis and the rest of the team; difficult to say that they anner given it a rate go.

anyone reckon the hyypia / pennant thing was a smokescreen while he went after sonko, walters and ledley? he was saying he'd have to be clever in the market. if he gets ledley and walters it will be a masterstroke, especially if they perform.

I'd rather have match ban Sonko than Anthony injured Gardner

Sonko is hardly a great signing, a useful addition to the squad but thats about it

But where is the striker to score the goals if Fuller and Kitson get injured. Is Zigic included in this magic?

sonko has experience though and despoite his fall out will be mates with kitson already and most likely the senegal contingent which cant be bad for morale

Sonko and Faye would be the centre half pairing I'd least like to meet down an alleyway.
Or, on a football pitch.

Sonko may have experience but he is no better than what we have and some way behind Higgy...sounds like a B list signing to me.

Well, I'd be very surprised if Ledley came just reading the BBC website. Cardiff boy, happy to stay blah blah....mind, how often have we heard a Chairman saying nobody's going only to wave 'em off the next day However, apparently he didn't 'do the ayatollah' the other night so that's got the Cardiff faithful thinking :PThat might just've swung it for us!

One thing Tony has been Triffic at during his time at Stoke (both times) is his ability to bring some great players to the club, players we've never heard of, players that have a poor record and players that some on here don't rate. 95% of the time the players he brings in are superb. Sir tony must have the best transfer record out of any manager over the last 5 years.

Just to update the spending list:
Kitson - £5.5m+ Oli - £3m Ab Faye - £2.5m Am Faye £1m Davis - £1m (undisclosed, but I thought that was the rumour?) Sonko - £2m
That's now £15m ... and apparently still set to climb.
I repeat - Stoke have spent £15m in 3 months - I make that about 3 times as much as we spent in the preceding 5 years!?
(Who'd of thought it, eh?!)

Much more prefer Sonko to higginbottom to be honest.
You have to have 4 centre halves.
Another striker ,winger and full back please Tony then that will do us.
