Still tracking along nicely in third, 1 point behind second and three points ahead of fourth...leaving us waiting for Watford to slip up and take their place!

May be a little pessimistic after the end of Christmas but I have just calculated that we are occupying a relegation spot!

Certainly one of the automatic spots, can anyone remember when we were talking about promotion & not just top 10, I dont think we were this hopeful last season

I did it up to the end of feb, had us joint top with West Brom. I thought i was being fair and honest as well. Interestingly i had Preston bottom.

with half the games gone we have 41 points
a similar second half of the season would give us 79-84 points - enough for play off
a good second half may see us up automatically
got to be optimistic though - doesn't look like we are losing any players and are likely to pick up a couple.
the signs are looking good

Interesting piece in the Guardian yesterday on their betting page which said generally teams which do well in the first half of the season do slightly less well in the second and vice versa so that the gap between top and bottom closes slightly.
They even had an equation which would predict how many points your team would get depending on how they'd done in the first half of the season. Strangely, they chose a total of 41 points at half way! The result was we should get 36 points from now on which would give us 77 and a place in the play-offs. Probably.
(This was worked out for all teams in the football league so a decent data set).

Agree they have a great team.
I do kind of like what West Brom are doing.
When I watched them at the Brit, at 3 nil down, they were still trying to play some nice football.
But they have had the money, we never did...
That is until Pulis made himself some money to spend.
You have to respect that as well!

In last years transfer window Derby bought lots of players & turned themselves from play off probables to automatic probables.
Ipswich,WBA,Watford (?),Charlton will all have £millions to spend - will Stoke?
TP is very consistent in saying he wants quality players who will fit tinto the team spirit we have. - cant see more than two players in (1st team) & maybe a couple more for the squad. If we can stay as injury free as we have been that should do for a play off place.
