I think we've got to try and focus on how young a team they have and their relative inexperience. I seem to remember from some performances in the past with an injured Schwarzer that Brad Jones in goal is more than a little bit dodgy. May be worth putting in a few shots from distance and certainly no harm in Delap's long throws being pinged in time after time. Maybe Pulis should wreak his revenge on the academy system's lack of kicking players on the Boro kiddies and show them what for, see if they'll disappear out of the game. Other than that, let's keep doing what we do best, putting them under pressure, using Lawrence and Fuller's link up play and Fuller's devastating runs.
By the way, whatever happened to CM3 legend Mido? He turned out average, didn't he?

completely agree, we look good when we go at teams, but look shit when we sit back and defend.
Get up em at 100mph and steamroller them City style!!

Double up on Afonso Alves, and try and stop Downing from getting balls into the box, if we can put them two out of the game, i think they'll become very much short of ideas. I think as long as Lawrence and Delap keep pinging balls into the mixer, we'll get our goal, it certainly is going to be a tough match though, they are an improving side and are a strong home outfit. Score the goal, and keep pressing, chase every ball give them no room to play, because if we allow them to play thats when we become weak, don't sit deep don't obtain pressure, keep the ball moving, and go for it. I really hope both Mama and Olofinjana start the game, as it gives us the ingredients two in-force two styles of attack on them, long-ball to target mama to flink on to an on-running Fuller, and creativity through the middle from Olofinjana, breaking play down and threading balls through...All will be revealed next week. GOARNNNN STOKE

Think it will be a tough game. As someone said above, they are an improving side and they've got some excellent players.
However, whenever I've watched Brad Jones he's looked shite - I think we need to get as many balls into the box as possible. Think Kitson should start with Fuller but stay a little deeper - essentially the Mama role. I'm hoping Dramani will be here and ready to play aswell, I'd like to see him come on for Delap after about 70-80 minutes and stretch them with his pace.
I'll be well happy if we get anything from this game to be honest. Its our home form that will be crucial in determining whether or not we stay up I feel.

Personally think we'll look to play it very tight defensively , perhaps even by sacrifising one of the front men for at least part of the game
More than anything I believe TP will be looking for our first clean sheet of the season..or at least signs that one is possible at this level ( or not ), as we can't continue to ship goals and hope to outscore teams in high scoring matches.
Problem is as we've seen , Prem teams can unlock you in the blinking of an eye even when you don't appear to be under severe pressure , ( in fairness Fuller's goal did likewise to Villa )

It wil be a difficult game, and we should try and keep it as tight as possible, and try and hit them on the break, like we did at most away games last year! The pitch will be bigger than at the Brit so the fullbacks will also have to try and make it tight and hard for the wingers, otherwise we could have a Bolton result!

same thoughts as the last 2 posts. What has surprised me is how we have found it relatively easy to score in the premiership - 4 in 2 is a great return. Fuller has stepped up to the plate and the throw ins will unsettle a few teams. But we are leaking goals badly - it cant carry ou and TP knows it - so probably ultra defensive tactics - same team as Saturday - rely on knockdowns in box or magic from Fuller - or goad Kitson to get his first for the club! A point would make me happy!

I would expect Fuller to be quite isolated up front.

i would settle for a point, but we must cut out needless free kicks. what a magnificent atmosphere at the brit on sat, should give the lads confidence against middlesbrough after that result.

Not sure if Brad Jones is playin on Sat is he??? Didn't he get a broken finger in warm-up against Liverpool or would he be alright against Stoke on Saturdayyy??? If not, that Ross Turnbull will be playin n he didn't have a bad game against Liverpool. Anyways, I'd probs be satisfied with a draw but ideally we could do with winning this one, especially with an extremely hard September with Liverpool n Chelsea which i can't see us gettin many points off to be fair ... So yeahhhh, a win would be ace...gotta watch out for Alves n Downing thooooo...need Griff to be on song for that game or Davies if fit ;D

i think its important we get at least a point as although "big mama" is right we have a tough september, what is just as important is not going into the two week international break on the back of a loss

It would be nice to see a bit more width to the play and possibly the extra personal to bring that to the game.
My big fear is what we have created from open play, which so far is little.
