Finally!
22 Hours To Go: Sell Out! Posted on: Fri 22 Aug 2008
City's first ever Barclays Premier League home fixture against Aston Villa has now sold out.
The final few tickets have been snapped up this afternoon, meaning the Potters are now on course to record the biggest league attendance at the Britannia Stadium since it opened in 1997.
The previous record attendance was 26,664 which was recorded during City's final match of the 1997/98 campaign against Manchester City
Supporters without a ticket can still keep upto date with all the action from the Britannia Stadium here on stokecityfc.com with live match commentary also available on Stoke City World.

Excellent. Would have been a tad embarrassing if we couldn't have sold out the first home game. Should be an unbelievable atmosphere and perhaps a chance for the Brit to banish some of the ghosts of the support we had at the Vic.

The club know how many tickets they have sold but they won't tell us. Not hard to say all 27500 tickets have sold out. They've got to announce it at the game so why not just come out with what a sell out is?
Can't fiddle now we have sell outs!

season tickets not included--it's the number clicked through the gate on the day that is the attendance(the clue's in the name-the number that attend!!) vale have sold just under 7,000 season tickets but their gate last week was 6,600 including the 200 accrington stanley fans

In most other industries you are expected to know roughly how many people are on your premises for health & safety purposes. Where is the logic in stating that there are "x" amount of people in the stadium based on numbers of season tickets sold when "x" may in fact be 1000 less? Tax ? The number going through the turnstiles should be the number declared to the authorities. p.s. I appreciate that the HSE people have a different viewpoint to the tax authorites. Perhaps someone can enlighten us as to what the "official attendance" actually means.
