Is that the game when we seemed to be cruising to victory, only for Steve Bull to came on and score a couple? Didn't Kevin Keen score for Wolves as well?

Carruthers bagged a brace and Gleghorn scored the other. Attendance was 9092.
I'm sure Bull scored two for Wolves and Keeno the other.

Cheers for the replies, top potters you all. I knew a group of lads from the gardeners who went to reggina ( i think?) and the game was called off. Nightmare. Remember the semis against notts county when we lost on pens. Shit games

Wasn't the Notts game an awful 0-0? I remember the last penalty(at the boothen I think) either going in for them/being missed by us and being in the car near the Vic faster than a Jamaican sprinter could have managed. I had a roughly 30 minute drive and needed to make last orders after that shite.

I'd completely forgotten about that Notts County game, an absolutely attrocious draw followed by a shit set of penalties. I think "OG" may have been our top scorer at that time as well.

I didn't hardly go to any anglo Italian games but went against Florentina to see Batistuta. That Notts County game was dire. Bloody awful memory.

I remember the mexican wave up and down the side of the pitch, good game for an Anglo-iti fixture.
Did Batistuta play when we played Fiorentina, couldn't make that fixture

Yes Batistuta played. His presence is the only reason to remember it. Although I think Gleghorn had a goal disallowed. Jordans first game as manager. In the pub before got talking to a Florentina fan who explained why they hated Juventus so much.

Cheers Joe, wasn't Jordans 1st game versus the Baggies, or was that his 1st league game.

His fiorst league game was at home to Leicester on telly on the Sunday after Florentina. Amazing noise and we won 1-0. He did however make a certain comment in the post match interview which soured the moment and stuck with him throughout his time in charge.

yes, the Fiorentina lads had these shiny gay tracksuits and took a bit of stick, they certainly played us off the park for about the first 15 mins before we settled down. Foghorn had a perfectly good goal disallowed, he turned his defender and rifled a volley into the roof of the net infront of the Boothen, good crowd as well, about 9000 I think...

Stefan Effenberg played for Fiorentina as well that night. A guy I know has a restaurant in Nantwich was one of the 6 fans they had there.
Remember the Wolves game well. Keen equalised right at the death for them then Gleghorn nearly won in way into injury time. Birmingham were the other team in the group-we beat them 2-0, Woles had to win by more and didn't. Wasn't it Muggleton's debut?
Who was the Italian side drew 2-2 at the Vic with 2 very dubious penalties?

RRP, we'd won to go 5th in the league and Jordan said it was three points against relegation. It came over as negative and that same negative approach was definitely the shape of things to come.
