Who ever it is needs to stop the old boy mentality that seems to have come into the squad selection. Someone please explain what the point is in picking the same team that we have picked for the past 5 years? Rooney is crap for England, Fat Frank why? Wes Brown what? David James how many at weekend?
Who ever takes over at the FA needs to stand up against all the corporate crap and let a England manager pick at team for the future.

Does anyone think it might anything to do do with the game being shown only on Sentanta? The vast majority of fans will not see the game and that is poor. I don't know about you but I pay the License fee & Sky a shit load of money and I refuse to pay another channel more money to watch the national team play

I refuse to pay to watch England games on TV - it is an absolute travesty that the national games are not on free to air. I would jave no problem with the games being on Setanta, as long as they were not scrambled - i.e. aired free of charge. So instead I am watching via Free to Air on Star Sports via Sopcast. And it is way past time for Barwick to go.

I told them they could not organise a football match at wembley !!
Seriously i did write and told them the restructure of the football pyramid is a disgrace.

tbh it's been an almost impossible job for the last few years and I don't see people rushing for the poison chalice. My vote would either be a respected and politically savvy football man, Trevor Brooking would be an obvious choice if he'd do it, or some nameless hard bastard from the City who'd be interested in shaking the place up till it works.

People in that position are on a hiding whatever happens BUT Mr Barwick was particularly hopeless. The non-sensical clamour for Svens successor to be English led to the diabolical appointment of Steve. This was after an insane game of cat and mouse in Lisbon where he very publicly pursued Scolari then pretended he hadn't then lost his prey because of a stupid insistence on announcing the appointment before the World Cup. There was no explanation why Martin O'Neill hadn't even been contacted at all after his interview.
The appointment of Steve was enough to justify removal from office for Barwick.

Ill health or not I will be glad to see the back of him.....the appointment of McLaren was ill judged and lazy...should have resigned over the failure of england to qualify for euros. Who next???...No doubt it will be a job for the boys

England need to take a leaf out of Stokes book (not defensively speaking!) and put a team out that will fight for everying as well as having the quality that is available to England. Some of these big time charlies can have a shit game for England and will still walk into the next England line up, so their attitude stinks! Lets drop a few of them and let them know that their place in the side is not unconditional!
I thought the best players on the pitch last night were Gareth Barry & Stuart Downing, because when they play for England they still have a point to prove.

I've often though that Stoke and England are good metaphors for each other in some ways. They both "used to be bigger", both base their reputation and status on one moment of glory, both have struggled to re-capture that glory (OK Stoke have gone some way to restoring their status by achieving Promotion) and both sets of fans have had something of a bad reputation in the past that makes them loathed in some quarters. That said, at least the Potters have achieved something of late and as you rightly say, have achieved it by a strong work ethic and the management not cow-towing to big time charlies. TP for England?! ;D
