Emerging Ghanaian star – Haminu Dramani - has shown an awesome form. And there is no doubt that the young Ghanaian talent of Dramani is in vogue at the moment. The likes of Turkish Fenerbahce playmaker and the Ghana Black Stars’ talisman Stephen Appiah, Africa’s most expensive player and English premiership giants Chelsea’s grafter Michael Essien and Italian-based nimble left footer Sulley Ali Muntari are all great players of international repute, but arguably the hottest property of them all is Serbia and Montenegro-based utility playmaker Dramani from noble town of Techiman in the Brong Ahafo Region.
Its reported that following his incredible exploits in the just ended World Cup fiesta in Germany, established European clubs are queuing up for the signature of the nomadic northern region parentage man, who was born in the Brong Ahafo regional town of Techiman, where his father, Dramani senior is a driver at the Techiman Zongo community. The dangerous winger burst onto the international scene last year on the eve of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Africa Cup of Nations finals in Egypt.
The 20 year old played at Hearts of Lions in the domestic Ghanaian Premiership last season before being recommended to Crvena Zvezda FC in Serbia and Montenegro by Ghana’s national coach Ratomir Djukovic.
Pacy, with the ability to deliver precise crosses, he made a dream debut in Serbia and Montenegro’s demanding league last September, scoring just a minute after coming on as an 88th minute substitute. Of all the players that coach Djukovic summoned for the World Cup finals in Germany, fans criticized his inclusion into the squad and people felt his inclusion was more of favour from the coach, considering the fact that other players such as Baba Amandou, Isaac Boakye, Prince Tegoe and Balfour Gyan did not make the grade.
But lo and behold, against USA, where Asamoah Gyan and Muntari were suspended, he repaid the faith shown in him by his coach and scored a gem against the mighty US. Dramini dispossessed US captain Claudia Arena outside his box and outpaced a static US rearguard into their box. He showed immense composure in front of the US 18-yard area before curling a low shot past the US goalkeeper to record Ghana’s first goal. Ghana subsequently won 2-1 and sailed through to the last 16 (second round) at their very first ever World Cup appearance. His exploits ignited the mother of all parties in Techiman, where he was seen as an iconic figure among his peers and elders alike and indeed justified his inclusion into the squad.
Dramini’s form is deadly and so his service is in high demand across the major leagues in Europe. And at the current rate, it won’t be surprise if he’s snapped by one of the top sides in Europe before the end of the 2006/2007 season. However, Crvena Zvezda FC have done their homework. Their scouts would not have failed to note Dramini’s skills, work-rate, muscular frame, skills on the ball, deft touches, speed, ability to play through the middle or out wide.
Djukovic often complained about lack of discipline from certain Ghanaian players yet in terms of discipline, although Dramini was young, he was very exemplary in his conduct both on and off the pitch and these remain a single attribute which prompted Djukovic to include him in his World Cup squad despite heavy outburst from the fanatical Ghana soccer fans.
“I wanted to show who I am,” he declared after the World Cup. “I played okay and was quite satisfied with my overall performances during the World Cup,” he added. Behaviour-wise, Dramani possesses the “baby-face” image and a down to earth attitude which promptly makes him the “lover-boy” and the darling of not just the hard-to-please Ghana Football Association (GFA) officials but soccer fans throughout Ghana. Ghana Blacks Stars has in recent years been riddled with personality clashes and pompous spoilt-brats.

Its true that a number of our players would never get a shot in other prem teams, but as is clear with England, a good team is not equal to the sum of its parts. U can put the top 11 world players together and not succeed. We have strength in a happy, commited and hard working team.

very tough for us to get a player in that would get into a side like villa's, unless he's a bit of a unknown quantity (maybe like this ghanaian lad dramani). If he's a known quantity, and i don't really like to use the phrase, we get "blown out of the water". Until we can establish ourselves in the league. The only way to do that, is get the best players in we can, get a couple the others don't know about, be BALANCED (i.e. the left has to be sorted, and the full backs), and be organised and work AAAAAAARRRRDDD!!! Then we might stay up by the skin of our teeth, and establish ourselves. Build on what quality and reputation we gain this year, and push on from there. It's tough, but we have a chance.
Saying not many of our players would get into a team like villa isn't a criticism. I'm actually very happy with the quality of player we've brought in. We just need more of them. I know 7 (if this lad signs) is a lot, but we need more imho.

Looks lke they've played 14 competitive games since June 06.
He's started 5, and come on as sub in 5, unused sub in 4.
As the qualifying period is 2 years before the permit application(?), I'm not sure if the World Cup 06 games count as qualifying games?
If they don't, he should be okay - figuring in 80% of their competitive World Cup/ANC games in the past 2 years - so an automatic permit as with Olofinjana and Faye?
IF they do, he may be in trouble, as it seems he's only figured in 71%?
Presumably, the club have checked all this out days ago and are satisfied that he qualifies automatically as the two years taken into account is the exact 24-month period before the application date, and not an international 'season' as such.
If so, we're home and hosed
Summer 08 v Gabon On as sub v Gabon On as sub v Lesotho Started v Libya On as sub
Jan/Feb 08 v Ivory Coast Started v Cameroon Started v Nigeria On as Sub v Morocco On as Sub v Namibia Unused Sub v Guinea Unused Sub
Jun 06 v Italy Unused Sub v Czech Rep Unused Sub v USA Started v Brazil Started

I was at the World Cup game between Brazil and Ghana in 2006 and this guy started the game. Despite Brazil winning 3-0, Ghana had loads of chances but a lack of composure in front of goal cost them. Interestingly they were tearing Brazil a new arsehole with some quick breaks down the wings. Sounds very promising!

Source - Me
A small EPL team would certainly fit his playstyle. These clubs want no flashy tricks but commitment, running and some more running. That is something Dramani can give them Laughing
No worries .. appiah is going to pompey and Dramani is going to Stoke .... watch this space

www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,16368,1805_4012446,00.html Potters poised to grab Ghana winger Stoke boss Tony Pulis is closing in on the season-long loan signing of Lokomotiv Moscow and Ghana winger Haminu Dramani. Pulis completed his sixth capture of the summer when Southampton's Andrew Davies put pen to paper on a four-year deal early on Tuesday, and there has been reports that a forward player is close to becoming the seventh. That player is believed to be the versatilie Dramani, who can play on either wing or up front. The pacy 22-year-old only signed a four-year deal with Lokomotiv in June 2007 but it is believed he is now on his way to the Britannia Stadium after catching the eye of Stoke's scouting team. Tony Pulis hinted earlier on Tuesday that he was looking to replace Richard Cresswell on the left wing and Dramani could well be signed in time to face Aston Villa this weekend, depending on a work permit. The 5ft 8in star made his Ghana debut as a 19-year-old and has gone to make 27 appearances, scoring three times. He played for Genclerbirligi in Turkey before moving to Russian Cup holders Lokomotiv in a £3million deal. Stoke will still be allowed to loan two players from Premier League clubs after landing Dramani as there are no limits on the amount of foreign loans a side can make.

Source: www.ghanasoccernet.com Breaking News: Dramani set for England move Ghanasoccernet can reveal exclusively that Ghana midfielder Haminu Dramani has held his first trial session with English side Stoke City. The Russia-based player arrived in England on Tuesday for observation by the Premier League newboys as he has already impressed the club. "Haminu trianed with Stoke this morning and we expect the deal to be finshed within 24 hours," the Ghanaian agent, who brokered the deal and wants to remain unidentified, told Ghanasoccernet. "I am here at the Stoke training ground and he is still showing the qualities they saw in him two weeks ago." Scouts were in Russia two weeks ago to watch the midfielder in the Railway Cup when his club Lokomotiv played Chelsea. He impressed in the game which convinced Stoke to swoop for the Ghana international. Haminu is expected to complete his medical by tomorrow before signing a three-year contract.

I hope he signs and gets the work permit sorted before the Villa game, we really can't have Cresswell on the left, he's just not a winger. Fingers crossed anyway! Feckin hell, sounds like an all night medical! He'll be shattered before the weekend!
