Take that photo of Bobby Moore being held aloft holding the World Cup,put photos of certain players heads & put them over Bobby's head & see which one looks better holding up the Trophy. ;D

Or alternatively subject the candidates to crushing disappointment and see which is best at conducting an interview to explain why it all went tits up. Again.

Or alternatively still. Make all the players do the training our Olympic cyclists/swimmers or rowers have to do in a week , without being molly coddled. The one that isn't crying like a bitch by day two should seriously be considered. Not that I think any of our shower would get to day two without crying or fainting or just plain giving up.

H Quite true
JT - dragged out of the bookies for a five or six hour session, and Ferdinand - well, say no more

I like the idea of forcing our England players into an Olympian training regime. That'd be one way to reinforce that playing for England is a privilege to be fought for, not some kinda formality once you're earning enough.
If you're selected for your country you undergo an intensive training and Clive Woodward style dietary preparation. With selection comes a step up in the resources directed at you, plus an increased commitment from the player.
That'd sort the true patriotic players who regard a call up as an honour from those who think it's a minor irritation that gets in the way of the Premier League.

Quite simple,a 'Royal Rumble' style brawl at training, with captains armband tied to goalpost. Last one standing with captains armband wins........hmmm who d'ya reckon,Gerrards quite wirey & scouse,so there will be dirty tricks in there, then again not many want to mess with big Dave(James) ! I can see it now,sky sports live,Jeff(twat) Stelling commentating And late call up Shawcross comes by with a sly left hander and Stelling is down, accidental of course ! ;D

Give it to Beckham again. Preening pretty-boy he may be, at least he cares.

Beckham..!!! yeah lets look to the future eh ????
Gerrard for captain.....and just let him play his own game....just tell him to go out and enjoy it..... he's at his best when given a free rein.......and unlike Beckham he can actually play a bit too.

How the hell are they basically choosing between Ferdinand & Terry. Why is Gerrard so far off the radar. He's in the middle of the park, gives 100% in every game, is more than capable in front of the camera, hasn't got the 'flash harry' image that Ferdinand portrays and isn't a gamblerholic like Terry.
Not that bothered as i don't see it as making a massive difference but my order would be:
1) Gerrard 2) Terry 3) Ferdinand
Why is Ferdinand 4-1 on favourite - just don't know why ... baffled.

Gerrard doesn't really turn up for England though (I know, like most of them).
Rio seemed to do a decent enough job captaining his team to Domestic and European honours last season. He's probably the best of a bad bunch.

Why not Barry? Successful club captain. Not one of the big 4. Middle of the park. Always solid, never spectacular. Seems perfect.

Rooney - it might (I stress might) calm him down a bit in the same way that Beckham 'grew up' after Perter Taylor gave him the armband.

Frankly speaking none of the regulars deserve it. When was the last time any of them bust a gut to try to win the game? Wankers.

dunner care, we have more important things to be worrying about. Id have a special National Lottery game and the winner gets to pick. Or oil up Keeley Hawes. Your choice.

He's probably the best of a bad bunch. I know what you mean but Terry & Ferdinand haven't exactly been brilliant for England either(as you said). I just see Gerrard making a huge difference 'as captain' for Liverpool (same with Terry) while Ferdinand doesn't stand out for United as doing much more than the usual. That being said no doubt Capello can see from a lot closer than me

I actually think Rio, cock though he is, is one of the few world class players we've got. Composed, ball playing defender, pacy, excellent positioning. Prone to the odd blunder, but who isn't. Think he's a far better player than Terry, who is Terry Butcher style dogged and brave, but slow and positionally dodgy.

I'd much prefer Rio to Terry. Terry is such a wanker who has never had a good game for England.
Gerrard is far too lazy in an England shirt. Fuck him.
