We don't do panic buying. These players were all on a list ;D Only Hull panic buy! Been thinking about that Bayern. That Geovanni that scored the cracker on Saturnday. Is he the "shit" Geovanni, or a different one that has somehow slipped under the radar? ???

Looks good, not found much other info on him apart from a couple of places that say he is a good league player but never steps up when it matters - hope that just means Internationals and not when a scrap is needed...
Still it is a loan deal so no dramas and he doesn't take up any loan quota as he is foreign

He could go either way Magic. It will be interesting to see. He started with rave reports at ManC last season, but they released him on a free by the end of it.

www.polishsoccer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=309586#309586He was excellent in the 07/08 Ekstraklasa, but hasn't been great at all so far this season. I'd say he is more of a left midfielder than left winger. He is fairly good and passing and does pop up with goals as you mentioned.
However I doubt he could cut it in the Premiership - tbh I can't remember the last time he played well against very good opposition. He would meet the physicals demands of the Prem, but I think there is too little space for him to utilise his skills.
He had a lot of talent when he was much younger, but I think it's mostly wasted unfortunately.
He could be useful in the Championship though, maybe Pulis is planning for relegation already! Laughing
I wouldn't be that sorry too see him go, as long as we get a replacement.
Hope that helps! CoolLast season was the best in his career.
He played 28 league games last season (Polish league consists of 30 games) and scored 16 goals and added 10 assists. He is a left winger and can occasionally play left back (scored 2 goals one game playing left back) although left wing is his best position.
He has a powerful shot, decent free kick... poor dribbler, average speed, and is getting up there in age.
He has never translated his good league play into any worthwhile performances for the National side... and in European cup play he fails miserably against decent/good opposition.
Basically he is a good player against weak opposition but he would be out of his element in the Premiership, unfortunately.

Thing that worries me is that TP has never actually signed a left-footed wide player and put him on the pitch. Demar never got a game and Pugh is restricted to a few defensive cameos. Sorry to sound negative. This Marek guy has never played in a top league? Is the polish top league better than the CCC? At least Marek is looking in the right direction.

I don't think anybody said Geovanni was shit, just that he does what he did at the weekend maybe three times a year but is a passenger when the going gets tough.

Am I right in thinking it's pronounced 'Zyen-chuck'?
Opens up a few possibilities...
To be honest, if we're willing to look at a.) the European market and b.) for a proper left-footed wide player, rather than a Cresswell/McCulloch grafter, you'd hope we could do better than the Wisla fans make this bloke sound...
But he IS left-footed, which is something. At least we'd have a left-footed option that didn't answer to the name 'Danny Pugh'.
The danger signals are there when you see he's 29 and has been marooned in a backwater league for a decade though - especially as he has featured very rarely for Poland, and didn't make the squad for the World Cup or Euro 2008.

Left footed players are hardly in abundance though are they ? he could be the best of the realistic targets ?.

Hmm, suspicious. A player is linked with us and magically another professionally edited YouTube goal compilation appears on the 'Net. Am I the only one who sniffs agent stirring here?
Bingo, publicity for said player. Hits on their YouTube compilation. Interest is picked up by the transfer gossip columns. Hull and two other clubs come in for him. We lose out.
Stoke 'Handy Foot In the Door To Premiership Transfer Publicity' City strikes again.

So opinion seems to be split then. I cant see this guy as been any different than Demar, we cant afford to give him half a season in the reserves, we need someone who can hit the ground running. Maybe Tone has an eye on him for the remaining building work around the Brit?

They're making some good bastard signings in Smethick! Maybe this lad didn't have the right attitude for our Tone? I'm still annoyed that was the reason given for not signing Zigic. Nah we don't want a quality because he has a bad attitude! Oh ffs grow up!

I can see why it would make sense though Bayern. We're going to be in a relegation battle and everyone is going to need to be prepared to kick bollock and brain for each other to get out of it. You really don't need anyone poisoning the dressing room.
I'm disappointed we didn't sign Zigic (although I don't seriously think he had any intention of coming here) but I can totally see why we want players with the right attitude, given the position we're going to be in.

But if TP thinks the better quality players will have the attitude then he can think again. We need quality players more than attitude. If it's one we thing lack it's players with enough quality for this league.

We don't know 100% that it was Pulis getting sniffy about Zigic's attitude, do we?
Scholes' quotes were very hard to read.
It was never really explained whether we had actually matched their valuation for a loan or a permanent deal.
It didn't sound like Zigic ever thought this was a good option for him, and we don't know he was ever really on board.

Agreed, but you can have all the quality in the world and if your attitude and work rate stink, you still won't perform. Look at that West Ham side that only stayed up through cheating a couple of years ago. They were in the FA cup final the previous year but they got too big for their boots and they should have been relegated.
