A player we have been linked with in the past few weeks/months, do we really need anymore central midfielders though ? have heard TP say something about "strengthening the spine" though.

Doesnt matter how many we have for that position, if he is better than we have got and in our budget we should get him in. Budget may just be the problem though?

We've got plenty of battlers in that CM position, but none that can really put their foot on the ball - the jury is still very much out of Whelan IMO.
Gets his fair share of goals too I think.

Gravesen's legs have gone. I saw him for Everton last season the few times we played him, but he just can't cut it at this level any more. He'll be on big £££'s as well. Maybe worth it as a squad player, but too injury prone and slow these days

Good point about needing a player who can put their foot on the ball, Gravesen would fit that bill, but is he past it now ? since leaving Everton first time around he has rapidly gone down hill, if you could get him back to pre Madrid form then he's one hell of a player.

Admittedly I haven't seen him since the Madrid move, so he could well be past-it - but if he can still pick out a pass, show a bit of composure, and shoot from range we've got Rory/Seyi/Faye/Whelan to do the donkey work.

If he's available, get him in.
Better than Whelan in my opinion.

Prem experience, old head for new lads, good coach for youngsters, general good demeanour...I say sign him up on a year's deal. Look what Hull have done with Geovanni. Never going to hit his prime in the orange and black but he is a solid part of their mid and set to be their star man this term. Gravesen will do business on the field and in the changing room. Most accomplished veteran in Stoke's midfield if he signed on the dotted line.
