im not sure if anyone's made this point but after their flukey opening goal on saturday we dropped our heads big time. fluke or no fluke we CANNOT afford to do that this season and it was proven this weekend.
we will concede goals and if we go 'flat as a pancake' everytime we will get slaughtered every week. last season when we went behind we never let it get to us and produced some brilliant comebacks. we need to show that more than ever this season.
i know hull were at home but they went behind early on and got on with it and got themselves 3 points. west brazil went behind early at the emirates of all places and could have got murdered but they didnt.
im trying to stay positive but it just seemed like this famous 'team spirit' and fight that we supposedly have went missing at the first time of asking this season and it cost us. if we dont get it back, and quick, we could be in for long hard season.
GOOOOOARRRNNN STOKE

that was the worrying part for me gilberto, i still dont know why we dropped our heads because whether it be a fluke/wondergoal that lad will NEVER hit a ball like that again. i was looking for our captain to rally the players and say its a fluke come on, but he was too busy holding his hips! i still think the encouraging part though was that we kept going for 90 mins, we could easily have given up but we got a good goal and kept going. come on stoke

top post if we are to stay up we need to show no fear and the reaction to their first goal was a worry.
I would take the likes of higgy back as skipper tomorrow if we could get him we need to really get in teams faces as the old wimbledon side used to to have any chance.

I know what youre saying about the 10 mins after thier first goal and i did fear the worst for the second half but credit to the lads they put up a fight and finished the game with some respectability.

I think the lads now know that they can't afford a 15 minute spell like that which they had aainst Bolton.
If it continues to happen then we should be worried but our first game in the Premiershit was always going to be a learning experience.

i hope you're right. im just worried that its our biggest asset and it failed us on saturday. complete lack of leadership from our captain and the really one experienced player at the back. its all well and good putting up a fight in the second half but we were already dead buried by then. its those 10 minutes after you've conceded which are the the most crucial.

They have had their 90 min familiarity lesson, time to play for real now!

Gilberto....You mention lack of leadership from our captain, I dont think we have a leader in our team. The last real leader we had was higgy and we havent had one since, Its something that needs to be addressed in my opinion. Can you remember how disorganised the defence was before Gerry Taggert came into the side and what a difference he made. Alls it takes is an older and wiser head in the centre of defence to make the difference between success and failure. Oh how i long for another Gerry.

i completely agree. its interesting how the fulop saga and damaging relations with sunderland has come back to bite us on the arse. maybe clutching at straws but it might have been a different story if higgy had been at the back for us on saturday. i really hope abdoulaye faye provides some of the leadership but from what ive been reading it doesnt look like he will.
