Having watched our first game and been hit with the full force of one of the premierships weakest sides it is crystal clear that we must find a good midfielder who has either played in these league or a top european league, keeping the ball is a must and it was easy to see that a player like nolan is so much better than what we have.
We also need the left side of midfield position sorting Cressie was way out of his depth yesterday
Hopefully Faye and Davies wil help the defence and lawrence an fuller should start but we will still need more quality , our direct game wont be enough in a league where all of the other teams are as strong physically and better technically.
Good luck between now and 31st Tone hope the right players drop for us

Olifanjana can keep the ball and pick a pass out well enough, our trouble is he needs movement around him! Creswell was non existant and Delap isn't suited to wide right. No creativity until LL came on with Fuller. Center mid playmaker isn't priority its wide left. Oh and two full backs please, the selection of Wilko was totally bemusing!

I agree with your pints about wide left and full backs although i still have hope for dicko to come through,he showed his potential again with that super cross for Fullers goal.
I still think we need a player who can pick the ball up off the defenders and then give others the confidence to play, nothing against oli or whelan but they dont have experience at this level, having been outplayed in there by bolton did not give me much enthusiasm.
I dont have a list of names but there must be good technical players in leagues like holland france and germany that we could afford and attract.
Perhaps faye will make a difference but not sure he has the quality.

Well within our range, Pattison - Newcastle (probably on loan), Kightly - Wolves, Walters - Ipswich, Ledley and/or Parry - Cardiff, Nabir El Zhar - Liverpool, Scott Sinclair - Chelsea, Jacques Maghoma - Tottenham.

Totally agree Johny. However, while TP is great at signing players for most areas of the team, the creative midfielder role is one that he doesn't seem too interested in. Much prefers physical strength in the middle.

not sure strength alone will be enough in this league where keeping the ball is so important .
As for the names mentioned all decent but none are proven at this level, just shows how hard it can be.
I wonder why we dont look in leagues like germany and france , saw a czech international playing for Hamburg on Setanta on Friday night against bayern play really well.
I would have thought prem sides even us could afford to pick good players up from these leagues just on the wages alone
